Absolutely. The spending is the summer has been justified. Trusty has played a massive part in Europe for us, and both Idah and Engels have contributed as well. That’s the bigger picture. We brought in players to try and progress us in Europe, we’ve done that.

And it can't be emphasised enough that we were always going to tire before them if we hadn't already finished them off. We've had 2 games a week for so long while they've had a winter break.

Rodgers making sure he said today the Kyogo thing not out of the blue.

Might be nothing but also a message to the board about making sure we get a replacement in.

He'll be as cool as a polar bear's baws.

He knows we're not just letting Kyogo * off to France without bigger movements in the background.

And as has been said already, not like this has come out of the blue. So I suspect he'll say some nice things about Mr Furuhashi then give insight into the return of the * George Michael!

Having put his squad through their paces at a wet and windy Lennoxtown training centre today (Friday), Brendan Rodgers faced the media as he looked forward to this Saturday’s Premiership clash with Dundee at Celtic Park.

And the manager gave an update on the latest potential comings and goings at the club, confirming that Kyogo has travelled to French side, Rennes, for a medical with a view to confirming a move there in the next 24 hours.

He explained that the club wanted one of their best players to stay, but had to respect the player’s desire to move on.

In respect of arrivals, the Celtic manager is hopeful that Portuguese winger, Jota’s return to Paradise is also imminent.

The 25-year-old, who left Celtic in July 2023 to move to Saudi Arabia, has been with Rennes since August last year.

Regardless of what happens off the pitch, the Hoops will be fully focused on the 90 minutes tomorrow when they take on Dundee, looking for a victory which would extend their lead at the top of the Premiership table.

And they go into the match full of confidence following the midweek Champions League win over YB Bern, a result which puts Celtic into the play-off round of the prestigious competition.

One man who has played a pivotal role in the European campaign is, of course, Callum McGregor, and the Celtic captain produced another outstanding performance in midweek on what was his 101st European appearance for the Hoops.

But it wasn’t something which surprised his manager, who has worked with the player over many years now

I thought Callum was absolutely brilliant in the game,” said Brendan Rodgers.

“He’s such an outstanding player, he’s been here for such a long time and how he leads this team with his commitment and his example is absolutely second to none.

'I’ve managed him in so many games over my two spells and the consistency and the level he produces is absolutely incredible.'

“Now, from time to time he might not be nine out of 10. He’ll maybe only be seven sometimes but that’s just the level that he’s set.

“How he drives this team – and I’ve said before that he’s the real heartbeat of this team and the level of his game that he’s shown, like the other night, like against Leipzig, or away against Atalanta, he’s still a player for the very highest level.

“You’ll always have your critics, manager or player, whether it’s deserved or not, but what I do know is that the example he sets both on and off the pitch here, I’m very lucky to have him as my captain.”

And the manager also spoke about how much he is loving life at Celtic, having won the league and Scottish Cup double last season, and added the League Cup to that trophy haul in this campaign.

His team currently enjoy a 13-point lead at the top of the Premiership table, while they have progressed to the next stage of the Champions League with a game to spare, having won three, drawn three and lost just one match in the league phase.

“To be in management you need to have a real commitment and passion for the job, and you have to enjoy it,” the Celtic boss explained.

“I’ve been very lucky in my life to work with brilliant players but, more importantly, brilliant people, and I’m here that a club that’s really authentic with people who work hard and give you absolutely everything.

“And when I did come back, I had a point to prove and had to shake off some things that, for some people, will never be able to shake off, but for me, the most important thing was Celtic and giving them the best that I possibly could, and I absolutely love it.”

Former Celtic star Matt O’Riley has no doubt Brendan Rodgers played a key role in his journey to the Premier League.

The ambitious 24-year-old midfielder dazzled for the Hoops, winning a hat-trick of Premiership titles under Ange Postecoglou and Rodgers. Winning the Treble in season 2022/23 with the Aussie was the highlight but O’Riley took his own game to a new level after Rodgers returned

He joined Brighton for £25million in August last year and is loving life in his debut season in the Premier League. O’Riley, who played 124 times for the Hoops, said: “He [Brendan] put a lot of trust in me. That’s the reason last year came to fruition like it did. I had a manager that really believed in me – and he made me aware of that. That was really nice. By doing that, it allows you to have freedom on the pitch.

I learned so much off Brendan, I try to be as open as I can be to improving. A lot of the meditation I do helps with being as intentional and open-minded as you can. If I close myself to any new ideas then I’m not really going to improve to a level that is potentially there in the future. I try to be as open as I can to new information. Right now, I’m still adapting to a new team and playing in a new league. It’s a great challenge but if I’m not open it won’t work.”

Don't trust Rodgers or believe anything that comes out of his mouth, He will drop us like a hot potato if any PL clubs come calling.

Just telling it like it is man, I don't believe that Kyogo wanted to leave, He doesn't fit into Rodgers system, Rodgers obviously believes that Adam Idah,Jota and a Striker on loan will solve his problems, Ange built a decent team, Rodgers is slowly taking it apart, hence why I don't trust a word that comes out of his mouth.

Been obvious that Kyogo has been wanting away since the Summer, and I have no issues with that, I love the guy and wish him the best, it was the best for both us and Kyogo to move on, albeit I would have preferred next summer, but if he wanted out he wanted out.

Rodgers didn't force Kyogo out, and if you truly believe that there's no point discussing anything further with you.

Rodgers style has not been good for Kyogo, He never had the freedom that He had under Ange, always dropping back to suit Rodgers slow turgid style of play, I do believe that Ange got the most out of Kyogo and He played the very best for Celtic under his management, Rodgers though has undone all that Ange did to make us a great team to watch, Rodgers style of play is very slow, turgid crap, Rodgers is someone who will drop us like a hot potato the very first minute a PL Club come calling.

Like Ange did? First team that came calling I believe.

Clearly you haven't forgiven Rodgers foe the first time around but let's not try and pretend kyogo is Messi or something. Someone posted in this thread already but no manager changes his style to accommodate a player of kyogos level.

Ronaldo, Messi, aye. But no Kyogo. I've also said numerous times but the style we are playing at the moment didn't hamper him completely. He was getting chances every game and regularly not putting them away. Any blame you want to put towards him or is it all big bad brendans fault? Again.

I don't know why you wouldn't believe that Kyogo wanted to leave. He changed agents and had clearly not been looking himself.

Hyperbole mate and I can come out with some whoppers but that's absolute bullshit.

    What problems does he have?

Kyogo has made it clear he wants to go, we could see he hasn't wanted to be here for months.

    Guys building a cracking team

Ange didn't leave us 3/4 of a season like Rodgers did, He left us once the Treble was completed.
