Fine for him to stay as backup.

Celtic’s current left-back Greg Taylor is out of contract at the end of this season and has offers on the table from the likes of Dinamo Zagreb and Trabzonspor. So far, he’s failed to agree on a new Parkhead deal - with reports of an imminent extension wide of the mark

Bailey of Villa is an excellent player IMO but I just did not feel confident with GT against him at any point.

Might just be because we now know he’s coming back but KT would have been such a massive upgrade from a defensive point of view it is frightening.

They targeted him for a spell. Well, for most of the 2nd half tbh.

He wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be but he just looks such a wee guy at this level.

Something very noticeable with that though, full second half he was left 1-1 against Bailey, and they knew exactly how to work the ball up to him in our third so he was. Then Palma came on. No more 1-1’s.

There’s no doubt at all KT is such an upgrade, * KT for me is genuine world class, can be one of the best at LB in the world.

He’s a monumental upgrade and him returning here at 27 isn’t down to him not being good enough at the level he’s at, we all know without his injuries this would be so far out our reach.

Saying that fact though, Taylor was decent tonight

Yup. Nearly burst a blood vessel opening his thread and seeing praise for working hard. He ran a lot aye, never where he * should have been but. Cash getting injured was a * let off

Just replied to you there but aye. He's rank.

And genuinely think we need this Norwegian winger in as well so we have 4 options to choose from. Excluding Jimmy

Aye trying to not let my anger at him infect every thread :56:

If Kvistgardeen is on as well, which looks positive just now anyway, he is adept on the wing and up top equally as well. So it goes from not a lot of options, to being * stacked with quality options and a headache for BR to select the right one. One thing in the Jota excitement, that game tonight if it showed one big thing it’s how vital Maeda is. Who’s having a great goalscoring season as well as his usual stuff that we desperately missed tonight.

Aye maeda I've often been frustrated by but whenever Yang comes in I'm reminded of how good he actually is.

You said in the other thread as well but Jota coming in, even a 40% Jota is probably gonna give us more than Yang at 200%. Will notice a huge difference.

I’ve got a happy Zen about Maeda’s wild unpredictable technique. When he * it I kinda think * it he deserves no anger because * everything else he does, and he also tends to nail it in the big moments and pull out his quality side. The not so big moments he can bounce an easy pass out of play or balloon the easiest of crosses into the stand. It’s Daizen innit. Just made a thread about him, interesting to see what you think

He wasn't too bad last night, his defending is very passive though. Back off, back off, back off. Gives the winger loads of space to pick a pass.

Can tell he's terrified of being done for pace

I think its improtant to get him on a new contract.

When you think of the "recent" basically 2.5 month run of playing every 3/4 days Tierney will never get anywhere near that. So the back-up left-back essentially needs to be another first choice level player which Taylor would fill.

Imagine next season going into derbies, cup finals and CL games plus the League ever 3/4 days and Tierney is out for 2 month and we've got some new wee numpty who joined only to be a back-up making a * of himself and then Scales there etc

Not worth the hassle to save £10k a week.

If we have Taylor and Tierney we can rest Tierney any time, wouldn't matter if it was a Cup semi or away to Aberdeen or Hearts or anything. You could play Taylor knowing he's played well in these games consistently for years. Has got to be worth a bit of extra money compared to signing someone who you know probably just isn't going to be that good.

Every team.we play against targets him. Took Emery 45 mins to suss him out

It's only our managers that don't see him as a weak link

If we're not going to replace him with markedly better then give him the money and do the extension... Folk saying he's "a weak link" are wrong - being the weaker link doesn't make him weak. He's perfectly adequate for ~90% of our games to and it's a pretty irrelevant +500k pa to not have the hassle of replacing him for an expensive equivalent

Not helped by Yang who gave him absolutely no cover whatsoever.

Hard with Yang in front of you, but as usual shirked his defensive responsibilities by backing off or staying high.
Fine on front foot, dreadful on backfoot.
