We’re not paying £13.5m for him.

Too many folk on here living in early 2000's thinking 6mil gets you a John Hartson or Chris Sutton type. Those players are easily 20-30mil+ now.

It sounded like we had that sort of money lined up for Barry. If Rodgers wants him, go get him.

We can agree to disagree but I don’t think they’re justified to value him at that price at all. They’re entitled to ask whatever they want but that value is far too high to be justifiable IMO.

I think we overpaid for Idah too, but we put ourselves in a position. It happens.

It’s not about risking it or not mate. It’s about paying reasonable values for players.

I’m all for spending big money on players and taking the inherent risk.

My guess would be we could get him for something like £8.5 mil plus 20% of the profit if we sell him for over that in future. Maybe chuck in a few performance related bonuses.

I think it would be something like that too.

Brondby figures will probably involve a bit of playing to the media and their fans too, as Copenhagen (their big rivals) have sold players in recent for big fees like Oskarsson and Grabara, Kristiansen and Harldsson.

Also Nordsjaelland have been getting crazy fees for some of their players like the striker that went to Sporting in the summer we were briefly linked with.

I would doubt we'll get him for less than £10m. Not that I am sure he's worth that, but we have kind of made a rod for our own backs by spending 9.5m on Idah. They will rate him higher than that, he's younger and has a better record at league level than Idah and has 2 years left on his contract so they don't have to sell now and can hold out for their valuation. They also know we need a striker having already sold ours.

They pretty much hold all the cards if he is our main target.

We should always look to get the best value for money when signing players. I know every player is a risk but when our club start throwing 10m out, it better be for players they’ve scouted and believe represent value for money if successful. This player seems to fit that model and is one who has had links for a few seasons now.

I don’t care if it’s a free transfer CF or a 10m one as long as they believe they improve the 1s 11.

Idah for example I think was knee * and over valued but I can’t deny his goals have paid his fee.

He's their best player and biggest asset, hence why I think they're justified. Just as I think Motherwell can ask for whatever they feel Miller is worth for them.

I don't think we will pay that price anyway. But in the grand scheme of things there's not a big difference between 10-13.5m. It'll likely take at least 10.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the total deal is worth about £10m with add ons but I think they will accept lower than £13.5m, I think that is based on a figure thrown about by a Sporting Director who is no longer at the club.

I do agree they hold a lot of the cards but I think Kvistgaarden wants the move of at a move. In addition, I mentioned before listening to a podcast called Danish Dyna-mic, it’s an English guy who is into the Superliagen and used to run regularly but he only does infrequently ones now. However, he gets good guests on the show either guys connected to clubs over there or well connected journalists. Around Xmas one of the well connected journalists stated he was aware Brondby would be looking to move on one of their sellable assets as failing to qualify for group stage European football had left them running at a financial deficit, they needed to fill with a player sale.

So where are we with this one, in reality?

What's the level of credibility and any respectable quotes?

I want him here, at £10-13m however that's structured, he's a much much better prospect than idah and I'd be happy with that.

Get the deal done and the middle to front looks superb for the rest of the season.

Our only "weak" area is depth at CB after this.

McGowan in the mail name dropped him as the one we wanted to replace Kyogo, yesterday.

Been rumours that we've spoken to him in advance I'm sure as well. He was asked by Danish press about our interest today I believe and gave a very vague footballer-y answer.

    Maybe hear something tonight.

I think there’s maybe a terminology difference here to be fair because that type of thing isn’t what I mean.

I think £10m is closer to what I would pay but still a bit overvalued.

Yeah I agree, their position isn’t all that strong.

    Speculating here but..

    To their advantage
    - They have a couple of years on his contract.
    - There might be a few clubs interested.

    Going against them,

    - The player almost certainly want to move on if there’s genuine interest from us. It’s a massive move and if he misses us or any others it might not come again.
    - They are apparently needing to sell, as mentioned.
    - They cannot offer European football in the short term, so it’s going to be difficult to boost his value much, or keep him happy.
    - He could get injured any time, or form could fall off which will decrease value.
    - We are in a stronger position than many will admit. (Cash rich, UCL goals achieved, league lead, Idah/Maeda could see us through if absolutely required, especially with a solid loan as backup until summer)

It feels like a staring contest right now to me and they think we’ll blink like we did with Idah, but I don’t think we should. It’s not a window for that IMO.

First time he's been linked across mainstream media and BBC etc, feels a lot more real this time around.
