McGowan hasn’t got the inside scoops for about 2 years after he criticised the board I’m sure. Before then McGowan saying was as good as official statement, he’s still more reliable than most but not to the same extent.

In-demand Mathias Kvistgaarden has left the door open for a January exit from Brondby amid escalating interest from Celtic.

The Dane has been heavily linked with a move to the Premiership leaders in recent transfer windows with Parkhead scouts keeping tabs on the frontman this term - with who is also said to be attracting interest from Eintracht Frankfurt. But Celtic appear set ramp up their push to sign the 22-year-old before the winter window closes with Kyogo Furuhashi on the brink of a switch to Stade Rennes



We understand Brondby are holding out for a lofty fee of around £13.5m to green light a departure for Kvistgaarden - who has netted 12 goals in 18 games so far this season. The Denmark U21 international has already made it clear that he feels he is ready to make a move elsewhere in Europe - but has stated his is attempting to tune out the escalating transfer noise.

Asked if he feels he can still focus on his future, the striker told 3 point: "Yes, I think I can. Of course, there is a lot you can read about and listen to, but I try to ignore it as much as possible and just concentrate on training here every day."


Pressed on the possibility of a move to the Hoops, Kvistgaarden added: "In the end, as a player, I can't really do anything except do the best I possibly can – whether it's for one place or another. That's the way it is."

 

Dunno is we would go to £13.5m for him but he's defo a player. For me if we don't get him this window we never do!

 

If he wants to leave them I don't think they'll get £13 million for him.

Wouldn't be shocked if we get it down to around £9 million - £10 million, maybe with add-ons.

Remove the Kyogo sale from it, we sold Bernabei for £5 million and will likely sell Palma for at least £2 million, so even if we did end up paying £13 million it would be a £6 million outlay at best if we signed him and Jota.

We have taken £61m in and spent £40.5m so there's plenty to go get kvistgaarden just from transfer funds alone. But whether we will or not remains to be seen
