New manager. He decides tactics. Can't keep running tactics/style of previous manager to suit 1 player (or any tbh) even though that player was excellent. However KFs missed chances this season that he'd put away b4 and obviously wasn't buying into new style. Sorry to see wee guy go but hey ho....

 

Kyogo flew to France following Celtic’s win over Young Boys that secured Champions League progress, and Rodgers said he will finalise his move to the Ligue 1 club in the next 24 hours.

At his regular Friday media conference. the Celtic boss explained that the Japanese striker and his representatives had told the club he wanted to seek a new challenge months ago.

“Kyogo had expressed an interest to leave a number of months back,” Rodgers said.

“Obviously then that expression becomes stronger and then it gets to this stage where he clearly wants to leave and we have to then do a deal and look to finalise that for him.

“He’s been an incredible player for the club in the three-and-a-half years he’s been here and, like I said, he’s not someone we wanted to lose

“But we have to accept where he’s at and after the work that he’s done to give to Celtic, and his age and where he’s at, we have to accept that.”

Celtic will look to bring in a replacement before the end of the January window but Rodgers admitted losing a key player just after reaching the Champions League play-offs was not the best scenario.

“There’s obviously issues around the timing,” he said. “But we have been aware so it’s not something that has just been sprung on us.

“We understand that we were going to lose him and that we have to replace that quality to keep the team moving forward.

“It’s something that’s been going on in a little while and hopefully we come out of the window with a stronger squad.”

 

Rodgers caused that desire to come.

Dire event, ffs he's not your best pal that's suddenly died, he's a pro footballer that's came in did a great job for us and is moving on, like most of them do, it's not the end of the world man get a grip.

 

Players always want to move on, like I said that's football..

 

Loved the wee guy, scored some brilliant goals but missed a lot of chances he should have scored. In signing Jota we're getting a better player. Just hope we can sign a 25/30 goal a season striker

 

He always missed good chances, mind him missing a sitter in his first home game when he scored a hat trick. His finishing hasn't gotten worse, he just doesn't get as many chances as he used to and that's down to the change in playing style IMO.

 

Easy for you lot to say we move on. What did you feel when Larsson was leaving? Or Tierney?

 

It's mental. 4 points above relegation.

 

Larsson was one in a billion player. Never to be seen again for me.

I think too many people take a player moving too personally..he's been looking for a new challenge..just like Larsson did...both have given Celtic their best years. The exciting part for me is who we replace him with.. Larsson we could never replace bcoz he was true world class..kyogo for how good he was and he was brilliant I have real belief that we'll get a new guy desperate to prove he can take us to the next level but not only that he'll have Jota and Khun ready to supply him...it's Celtic we support not kyogo.
