One big thing though, Kuhn has had a lot of joy using Kyogo’s movement as a decoy this season. He moves into that space that Kyogo’s moved out from with defenders trying to cover him. Think it’s been frustrating for Kyogo personally that but devastating for us.

But with Jota back, even without that for Kuhn to rely on, he has been tripled up on. You can’t do that with Jota on one wing and Kuhn the other. One gets focused on, the other has space. And both have shown even being focused on, they don’t really care either.

Edouard used to do that every other game.

Don’t check that just take my word for it.

Henrik Larsson mate, already balls out adored the man but I think it was his actual first return back after the leg break vs Hearts, with us playing a reserve team, with a swagger about us getting cocky as youngsters do. Henrik tracked back, slide tackle in our box, turned around and just looked at the youngsters around him who hadn’t. And they covered every inch, every run, committed to every tackle after it.

And my adoration for the man went up even more, and I didn’t think that was possible.

    * you not, Samaras had a few moments like that in him. Was never the easy ones you expect players to do, he’d be a statue looking at those ones doing * all. Then sometimes he’d sprint back 30 yards and miss a big massive slide tackle. He done the same sometimes chasing a lost cause he was never going to get so it wasn’t a goal kick, but ones he could have no attempt. By the end of his time here, it actually amused the life out of me. Just Sammy things

Only if you look at the raw stats instead of the actual goals. He's more a finisher rather than a creator. Other players create for him. That's not the typical role of a winger. Maeda is at his best when running in space. Same as Kyogo, only better.

    Amazing.

I've actually seen Larsson play in the flesh, so I knew his workrate was great (it was far clearer in the flesh than on TV); but I never realised it was as good as that TBH. Still, "not seen that from a striker since Larsson" is still a pretty epic thing to be able to say about Kyogo.

Has looked as if the sparkle in his eyes has gone the past few weeks/months.

Its a real shame because he is a really intelligent, instinctive striker but he just doesnt seem to fit Rodgers system well.

He has been a credit to himself. A hard worker, scored some great goals at some big moments and he has always been a model pro.

I got the feeling he wanted to go, but only really to the US or something like that. I’m kinda surprised he went to Rennes. Looks like a relegation battle and no European football next season.

Maybe it’s a significant wage bump, which is fair enough if he’s thinking about retirement. That’s a good enough reason I suppose but apart from that I can only think he might want experience in one other European league and might’ve felt he was about to be phased out here anyway.

Sammy things indeed. The kids won’t understand, one of those players you just had to be there.

With the way we are doing our transfer business lately, I wouldn't be surprised to sign the wee man back in the summer for 1million.

Behave yourself. If he was better than Kyogo through the middle he'd have been playing there. The defensive work Maeda does down the left is just as impressive as his attacking work. We won't use him as a striker, unless because of injury.

I think he wanted the Atalanta move. It would explain why he wasnt smiling after scoring vs Ross County.
He also didnt have the same enthusiasm in the after match celebration

Id only have Maeda through the middle as third choice. He isnt a good enough finisher to start there. You couldnt hang your hat on him.

Coming to terms with the loss of my favourite Celtic player in years. In all honesty, we are lucky we held onto him for 4 years. His movement brought back memories of Larsson and gave me that feeling again.
Hope he continues to flourish in his career.

Jota is 25 mate, i dont think we are paying for potential. I believe Rodgers thinks he can come in an impact the squad now.

It’s the middle of the season and we are still very much involved in Europe so SURELY Celtic have an adequate replacement lined up to replace Kyogo or we wouldn’t be selling him.

I think he wasn’t enjoying his football here anymore, performances weren’t the same, and with his age felt this is the time to move on if he ever was going to do it.

He changed agents not long ago and the rumours were persistent. I’ve braced myself for it, add on to that Jota’s returning the opposite direction for him and is 5 years younger, and when both were here I rated Jota higher (no downplay on Kyogo that at all both were extremely high standard), I’m buzzing and wishing him all the best.

Leaving before his brilliance has faded for us.

You can have both btw. 25 isn’t a youngster but traditionally not exactly the peak either. Rodgers and how he’s traditionally worked with wingers and improved them his full career, he’ll look at him knowing what he can bring straight away but will absolutely be thinking he can get more and improve even further. Whether he can or not we’ll see.
