Yeah fixtures to watch out for if we don’t get anything from Villa Park.

    We want
    - Liverpool to beat PSV
    - Juventus to avoid defeat to Benfica
    - Bologna to avoid defeat to Sporting
    - Stuttgart and PSG to draw
    - Man City to beat Club Brugge.

If those 5 things happen we will finish 18th regardless of our result.

I cannot see us win at Villa, so getting a draw then brings interest into the following ties:

    - Lille v Feyenoord, if either side wins by more than 1 goal we would go above the team defeated.
    - Brest v Real Madrid, if Madrid win by 2 goals we would go above Brest.
    - Inter v Monaco, if Inter win by 3 goals we could go above Monaco.

There are other games like Dortmund and Bayern but they both have easy home ties so likely to win regardless.

In all likelihood we could possibly just about sneak into the top 16 with a draw but would need most of the things above to happen.

    Still buzzing after last night.
Does anyone know how many players we can register for the next phase?
Is it more if we sell someone registered?

Maybe try a back 5 at Villa next week with the pressure being off and Maeda out, Kyogo gone?

Seen a few murmers that itd be better for us to lose to Villa as it's likely an easier opponent.

We could get one of Feyenoord, Monaco or Brest if we lose, and could get Bayern, Madrid or City if we win.

With us on 12 points and the middle of the pack is so stacked with teams sitting on 10-14 that we could finish above/below depending how results go it's pretty much impossible to predict, and teams still able to move in and out of the top/bottom 8, actually loving this side of the new format, so many teams still have something to play for going into the final game.

I did use the result simulator on uefa’s website and plugged in the results i predicted for the other games

If we win, we’d finish 13th and we’d would get either Monaco(19) or Brest(20) in playoff .

A draw, we finish 19th and play either Aston Villa(14) or Atalanta(13).

Lose and we are in 20th and will play either Juventus (13) or Atalanta (14).

In all these three scenarios simulated, if we win it be Arsenal or Inter in last 16.

Looking at those teams, winning probably gives us slightly better ties.

But then I did another simulation with different result from the other games which resulted in Man City finishing in 19th and PSG in 20th. If that were to be the outcome then winning against Villa would give us the worst possible ties.

The point is it’s too hard to guess. Also all match day 8 games kick off at the same time (wed 29th 8pm) so there is no point in thinking about worst or best case scenarios. Let’s just go to Villa and get a result and hope for the best in the other results

Apologies if this has been posted already, but there’s a link on BBC football page - explaining the (TV?) prize money

From the 7 played games, I approximate estimate the club has earned

    £32m Euros

    This comes from
£18.6m participation (how important are the qualifiers now?)
    £7.1m results (£2.1m a win - £275,000 draw)
    £1m bonus for finishing 9-16
Plus there’s another bonus of 275,000 per place - minimum £3.5m for finishing in the top 16
    Minimum last 16 exit £800,000

This doesn’t include other stuff such as sponsorship, tickets and merchandise

And there’s also the Villa game, and possibly quarter finals etc to factor in

But to put that in perspective - without ticket sales etc

Southampton are due a minimum of £88m for probably finishing last in the EPL this season.

And then get additional parachute payments for the next 2/3 years.
