And yet lets the opposition away with murder in him. That ndaba fouled him constantly last night and yet got nothing

Definitely a confidence player, expected given his age. Thought he was ok, but still think we haven’t quite got his ideal position sorted yet. Feels a wee bit disjointed but definitely think we have a player here. Think we will see him shine next season. * penalty but

I thought first half tonight he was excellent. Got stuck in everywhere, played some lovely passes and was involved in most of our good attacking play. Fell away after his shocking penalty which obviously dented his confidence. Didn't think Bernardo impressed when he came on to replace him. But Engels for me is showing flashes of of real quality.

    * pen needs to wrap the stutter step and always goes the same way on pens. Was decent first half and then the penalty missed got to him it looked like

    Here the whole time
He wasn't excellent in the 1st half by any stretch but wasn't bad either, just ok which really seems to be his level. Hes just very vanilla.

The penalty was dreadful and clearly had an effect afterwards.

Had a poor game from the moment he missed that penalty. Clearly let it get to him.

His corners are something else. If we had more height in the team we would be dangerous for anyone.

Thought he tired and the pen got to him but on another night he has 3 assists and wins the game for us.

Was his pass for Kyogo, trusty header and also played a lovely dinked ball through for maeda 2nd half.

Still a player who shows his age and inexperience though with some of the passing. Needs to learn when to force it and when not to.

That half turn and then he burst past a defender into the box and fizzed a shot from which was well saved was a real piece of quality , he's definitely growing into his role and starting to lose the shackles. Plenty of good moments .

Also played an absolute belter in open play first half for Kuhn who should've buried it....and had strayed offside..

Really surprised that he stuttered the run up. I hate, hate, hate those delayed ones. With his technique, lace it or side foot it in the top bin with a pace and a good run up..

He split their defence open constantly with passes and was picking up some cracking positions, he’s a very clever footballer and will only get better.

Just tell him to never stutter step a penalty again, just rifle it low in the corner every time big man.

I think he shat himself to be honest. Run of the mill penalties he usually just steps up and smashes them in but that one last night the stutter was almost like he was just desperate for the keeper to make it easy for him, then when he never he just ended up passing it to him essentially. He also needs to start switching up which way he’s putting them. Ross county is the only one I can mind him putting the other way?

He’s young and he’ll learn from it but it properly * him for the rest of the time he was on the park.

He was fine first half but struggled as the game wore on. Started giving it away too often and was knackered just before coming off. What I noticed first half though is that I felt he was very isolated to the other midfielders. McGregor, Hatate, Taylor and Maeda were getting a lot of joy, but when it went out to Johnston it felt like Engels was the only player near him and then when he gave it to Engels he seemed detached from the other midfielders.

For me I thought he was very good in the game until around the 55 minute mark where he really started trying to force things.

Up until the penalty he had put a number of line breaking through balls in, some great pick outs at corners against a far bigger side and early second half done well with the chance he smashed at the keeper and Maeda should have buried the header on the rebound.

The penalty itself was awful, he is a very good striker of the ball from the spot normally so no need for the stutter run up, in such a situation he should have been picking either side or down the middle and putting his foot through it. We got away with it in the end and hopefully he learns going forward.

I think his dip in the game was an entirely rational thing given you could see the penalty miss had impacted him.

Engels just isn't a confident penalty taker, I think he was given pens to get him in the goals and help alleviate the huge fee, (for us), that he cost. I dread each time he steps up to the pen spot.

He was brilliant first half. Second the whole team was poor, don’t think it was anything to do with the pen.

I thought he was excellent but when the team ran out of puff he fell away.

He probably should’ve stopped trying to force things and slowed down with the team until we got our second wind. Instead he kept going when no one else did and it make him look bad.

But he was excellent first half. Some of his touches, positioning and passes were really good.

I think he gets a bit of excess stick for misplaced forward passes same as Hatate used to, which is really unfair for me considering how many people complain about backwards passes. If you want forward passes you need to accept many of them won’t go through and stop giving the player stick, otherwise he’ll pass backwards for an easy life..

I felt like he should have passed the penalty on to someone else, having scored 7/7 for us, 6 in games and 1 in the huns shootout, theres only so many in a row you will score and he was at the point he's likely to miss one of the next couple.

Shouldn't have risked it in a big game like this, could have missed in the League instead.
