First half we were good if a little wasteful, and caught offside too much necessarily. Second half we seemed pretty knackered from about 50 mins mark, lacked a bit of tempo.

All that matters is we won now though, though Cal, Kasper and Hatate played well. Credit to Idah for actually holding his run and getting in behind, will take a goal like that any day.

Villa will be a good opportunity now to try a more pragmatic approach away to a strong team. A little concerned that they will be gunning for the automatic top 8 spot and with us having got through now we may lack intensity. Still need to treat that game as an opportunity because if we turn up in second gear we risk another absolute pasting which could kill the mood.

 

Don't do things the easy way never so happy to see the ball hit the back of the net as when it rebounded of their players .

An Atalanta style performance but with more attacking threat on the counter. Against Atalanta we went with Idah to try and give us a target up the field. But I didnt think he really provided that. Maybe this time try Kyogo sitting on the shoulder of the last man and try to find him with balls in behind and breaking quickly.

They were a really poor side if we’re being totally honest, should’ve been out of sight in the first half then composure went out the window a bit and the atmosphere died. But as I’ve said in so much of these games this season, years gone by we’d have drawn or lost that game so it says a lot for this group of players that they continually find something and get a result.
