There's a significant gap between us and Rangers and their one great performance against us in over a dozen derbies doesn't change that. Even in games where we haven't been at our best, we've still beaten them. The quality of a side is measured over an entire season and we are very far ahead. At our best, they can't touch us. I get that yesterday was disappointing but it's not like a metaphorical pendulum has swung in their favour and they're suddenly equal to us. They aren't and as long as we recruit well in the transfer market we'll stay ahead of them.

It's not even our worst domestic result under Rodgers either. Granted, it's a sore one to take given it's from our biggest rivals but we got pumped 4-0 by Hearts in 2017 before going on to do a treble.

Everyone has the right to an opinion but sometimes on here l have to do a double check just to make sure it's not us that are 13 points behind

My generation (born 86) are sandwiched between the Stein era and the newer generation who have only known success. I think we are more forgiving of the team. It was only in Rodgers first spell that I think I got over that feeling that Rangers would always find a way to beat us.

My generation (born 56) saw us finishing outwith the top 3 in the early 60's as well as in the 70"s and, like yourself, we knew the huns were streets ahead of us financially however, even back then, they were ably supported by the SFA and the referees.
Don't get me wrong, I still hate us losing but I'm not as bad as many of the younger fans in our support who, luckily, are supporting us through the golden years only surpassed by our 9 in a row years

The trouble with Idah is not that we paid £9.5m for a player who needs a bit of fixing-up; it’s that, having paid £9.5m for a player like that around the same time that his aging rival striker signed on with a ruthless new agent, calling said rival’s loyalty into question, our manager proceeded to close his eyes to this, sitting Idah on the bench for his confidence to rot while Kyogo, his head turned, has gone on to have nearly as bad a season himself. What did we expect to happen?

    Rodgers mostly to blame, imo.

    Counterpoint...

The expectations of younger fans are based on the objective fact that we have enough cash to buy every single player combined from our closest competitor, and excluding our nearest rival, enough money to buy every single team in Scotland combined. That may not equate to winning every single game but probably does equate to our domestic objective being a treble most seasons. And our previous positions in previous decades has no relevance to the position we find ourselves in today.

...the truth is somewhere in between our points. But it's a fair counterpoint all the same I think.

So are a lot of players, doesn't mean they have anything to do with this thread though. :giggle1:

Barring a poor run of form over a couple of months, Glenn Loovens was a good player for us.

Came into the cafe where I was working a few times when he was with Sheffield Wednesday. It was an open kitchen, so I got a good view. He was surprisingly attractive in real life. Does that count as a controversial Celtic opinion?

On recent transfer links, I would happily swap Kyogo for Jota.

For Jota + any sort of fee it's even more of a no brainer

Love Kyogo but I think it's time for him, if not this window then definitely the sunmer
