It was a friendly 1989 or thereabouts v arsenal.
They forget to pack the home shorts, or they'd lifted the away ones by mistake. Id read about it

Worse than thsg was Leeds 1970 when they wore red socks

    I know this one :56:

Both team white socks clashed and Celtic hadn't brought a 2nd choice so Leeds gave them their red socks that their reserves wore

Good to get an answer. Makes sense.

Aw man they look so bad with those red socks. So strange.

Up until the late 80s when we played Hibs both teams always wore home colours. That must have been a nightmare trying to watch that game

This was as late as 1986

Would love to see us play in Hoops/green, white shirts & orange socks tbh - the filth would lose their tiny little minds :giggle1:

There were honestly never any problems with it. Teams never changed their strips unless it was necessary. It's all to suit commercialism

Went to a game years ago, Pollok v Baillieston. Pollok played in a "Newcastle" type strip and Baillieston turned out in a similar strip only red and white. Was there to support Pollok and thought that Baillieston had brought a good support as they seemed to have the majority of fans. * game and the only goal came in the 80th minute and was then l realised both teams normally played in black and white and it was Pollok who had changed to red. I had been wanting the wrong team to win

It's funny that people forget it used to be on the home team to use a different strip if the 2 clashed. Makes perfect sense really, as they'd have access to facilities that a travelling team wouldn't.

As you say, it switched to "away tops" at some point, and now it's just pure money driven conveyor belts for the stripping of fans cash...
