I know that and wasn’t blaming just him only saying we need everyone on top form to win the match and since he’s the captain he’s got the responsibility to make sure everyone pulls together on the field.
Unfortunately I don’t think we will beat Villa as they are improving although we should get a draw.

I haven't and won't watch the game back but I would instinctively disagree, Cal is not a shitebag. All players were off it

Honestly mate, second half I’ve never seen anything like it from him. Genuinely didn’t want on the ball.

My worry is that they seem to be a high press and pounce on mistakes. They teams on the break.

    We hate that.

I've got a good feeling about this game.

For some reason I think everything lately has been gearing up to this one.

    Get it done, Celtic.

Think it will be tough. They are a big physical team, who like to hit on the break, and they come with a good pedigree.
If we start with Hatate and Kyogo again, I think we will be in for a slog.

Confident we can get a result here. Really hope we can create and take chances early on though.

Who should play instead of Kyogo to give us more of a chance? :43:

So with Aston Villa losting this evening, adds that little bit more pressure to get a result tomorrow for Celtic.

Going into the last game, AV will be wanting to get maximum points to try and ensure a place in the Top 8, so they avoid the next round entirely. So if we go down there still needing something it is going to make our job so much harder.

All of that can be avoided by the Celts beating YB tomorrow, and then anything we get against AV is a bonus and purely about jockeying for position. That pressure was already on the YB game tomorrow anyhow, but even moreso to avoid having to claw for something v AV and hope that other results go our way, if Celtic do not get the 3 points v YB...

Huge stakes and that little added pressure to win tomorrow.

I’m hoping we’ve done a lot of work for this game, maybe at the expense of some other more recent games.

We really should have some plan if they try a hard counter to our tactics.

Mentioned this in the Champions League thread. Villa probably needed two wins to make top 8. Possibly a win and a draw would have done it but they would never have been guaranteed with a win tonight so would have always been going full strength against us.

    Liverpool
    Leverkusen
    Barca
    Dortmund
    Bayern
    Milan
    Inter
    Arsenal

All have a good shout at getting to 18 points. Atalanta if Barca don’t get 18, then Atalanta could get to 17 points.

Edit - Dortmund may just have made a backside of the above, although it still looks like 17 points may be needed or 16 with a big goal difference so they would have still been going for it against us, Villa that is.

On us if we could get goals for Barcelona, Red Star and Juve in the next 10 minutes would be decent for us.

100% it’s a concern anytime we play at this level, often we are caught in possession and we are so weak when it comes to defending transitions.

However I do expect us to have a better game plan for combating a high press tomorrow night after the recent derby games - I’ll be raging if we don’t. I thought we were looking to play the ball forward to Kyogo, Maeda and Kuhn much faster against Killie rather than take extra touches in midfield which is why we often lose it under pressure.

So, going on tonight’s results in the champions league, it’s all about tomorrow, pretty much win or we’re out. I don’t see us getting anything at Villa so this is it. I think many of us seen this game once the draw came out as being the night it would all come down to. So here we go, it’s by far our biggest European game since Juventus 2013, sadly i haven’t managed to get a ticket after asking everyone I know, so please i ask to all the troops who are lucky enough to be there tear the roof off, do our bit in the stands and surely the players will do their bit.

Taking the chances is the biggest thing. We have created loads recently and just aren’t clinical. If we miss a couple, or * don’t create * all either, by 20 minutes in… our crowd can turn into a hinderance rather than a positive.

The team needs to be on it, but one thing we need is the crowd to stay behind the team as well. In Europe especially lately when we go in as fans expectant, it’s palpable in the stadium. Atmosphere is different, and if it doesn’t go our way early the anxiety around the stadium transfers onto the team.

Best thing that can happen is an early goal, and frustration not setting in.
