9 million, what a fuking waste of money.

That chance the other night should've took him the keeper and the ball in the net at the same time.

In a normal time yeah but he's more than earned that by helping us win our most important league title since stopping the ten, without him the blue tarts would have got the £50m and restored financial parity, now they're flat broke, he's £41m in credit for me.

Not sure. Most of his senior level career has been something of a goal drought so far. Hes never really been a proven goal scorer or established first teamer anywhere. The loan patch he had with us was the exception more than the rule. We have obviously shelled out for him on the basis of that rather than what he did at Norwich. The loan spell looked reasonably promising, but for me its a more a case now of him needing to prove hes capable of making it here.

Thats a very good and accurate point you make there about what he has already done and how important that has been. In terms of this season I think he has been ok has had his moments and is struggling clearly for confidence right now. Would be great if he could get on the score sheet tomorrow.

Another in the long list of Irish strikers who doesn’t score goals.

I re-read this thread through parts of last season to remind myself what the consensus was and he was getting it tight on here and being called useless after plenty of games . Even after he scored two pens v Hibs he was getting heavily criticised for all round play and his general finishing. Don't think he was anywhere near as good last season as many are making out.

I said when we signed him that I thought he was pish, and sadly he's not proving me wrong. Scored some important goals last season, but didn't do nearly enough to warrant a £9m price tag. Ball control and aggression are lacking

    We should have chased Norwich.....

That said, I hope he comes good

I guess you could do that with most threads though where players routinely flip flop between being outstanding one week to fans wanting them sold in the space of 90 mins. Can be very reactive. My take, for what its worth, was that his senior career had been something of a disappointment after he had showed a lot of potential at underage level. He hadnt managed to establish himself at Norwich and had struggled to replicate his goalscoring at youth level into senior level. Similar story with Ireland. We took him on loan where he scored a few big goals for us and contributed to winning a double. The loan move seemed to re-energise his career. The cup final goal in particular. That goal kind of built a connection with the fan base. Id say across the board any fan would have said 9M to secure him was paying over the odds. But his loan spell had shown some promise I think as a player who could kick on. This season has been disappointing in that regard as he clearly hasnt kicked on. Given the price tag, its inevitable questions will be asked.

All that was achieved long before we needlessly parted with 9m quid. Would have been a very good value loan for us . He has contributed close to nothing since we paid that fee.

He is here to stay for quite a while so hoping Rodgers can bring him on a level or two. Might as well get behind him.

Does need a spell on the bench though for his own good.

I disagree, tbh - I think if he continues in his current form he’ll be off on loan by next January, if not sooner, and he’ll be out the door the following summer (provided he doesn’t up his game drastically). Not only is he not scoring, but he doesn’t look that likely either. Confidence is low and his body language isn’t great. Also, we must bear in mind that this lad is not a natural goal-scorer and never has been.

Let the lad be, * spell with pressure now on him with that fee on his back . Everybody seemed happy enough before when he scored important goals without that yolk being put upon him. He will grow into it.

There's no way we've forked out 9mil and he's sent out on loan.

    If Kyogo leaves....which is looking more likely.....then he'll be no1 striker.....then he'll get judged.

    We didn't spend 9 mil on a 2nd striker
He was always long term 1st choice

Feel there’s a bit of a pile on with Idah at the moment. He’s not been great by any means, but the fee will be weighing heavy on his shoulders and we need to get behind him and hope he rediscovers his goalscoring touch.

Most of his senior career? He's only 23... Most players don't break into seniors until 19-21... You gonna bomb the guy out already when he's only 3-5 years into a 13-16 year career development? Harsh mate... Not burning the heather fields for sure, but give him some chance to recover/grow before writing him off...
