10 games in two seasons, usually a couple of games at a time. Not comparable to Tierney's injury issues.

Jota is probably never coming back but he's by far the more reliable and more exciting option than Tierney.

Kuhn, so far this season, has already surpassed Jota's best season in terms of goals and assists, but we are still yet to have a left back that has been as effective as Tierney.

That's why I need to pick KT

Knowing Brendan he won't sign Jota...player who left and hasn't made it elsewhere in lesser teams is NOT the profile we should be going for...if we want to evolve in Europe Jota is far from the player we need. Plenty of other great wingers out there in the Scandinavian leagues we are likely to be scoping

The Tierney that left us doesn't exist anymore. Injuries have been a curse for him.

If that player still existed it's a no brainer. He was a better player and he plays in a postion we are currently weaker in. Yet if the option came up you'd have to take Jota now just due to game time. But it doesn't look like he is setting things alight these days either.

In general it's never great to go looking at players who left us. It's never as good the second time round...

Tierney. Like Rodgers, he’s a level that we wouldn’t be able to attract if not for his affinity for the club.

Jota was great, but I seriously doubt he’d want to return to this league having already ‘done his time’ here. I suppose if he was desperate to play in the Premier League we could give him that platform/exposure, but I suspect that ship has sailed.

He also strikes me as someone who’ll move from league to league as he loves a world tour.

What a load of pish, Rodgers loves a quality winger. Jota is one of the few players in recent times that didn't look out of place in Europe at all.

After the carry on that Jota has had since he left us, there’s no guarantee he will get back to the form that he previously showed with us. I would still take him but if had to choose between the 2 then would be Tierney

Sorry what is a load of pish is the fact people want a player who has barely kicked a ball in two years and has apparently thrown his toys out the pram for a mediocre french team as well. 3 coaches all haven't seen anything in him and 25 million later who knows where is head is at. Why you are romanticising him I don't know. He will not be the same Jota. At least with Tierney he will bust a gut, knows the club and is still lauded by arsenal fans.

And as for Europe in that year jotas tinpottery move of celebrating a goal in a 5-1 defeat still irks me.

He’s played in 9 of 17 league games this season after being not match sharp and being ostracised in Saudi through no fault of his own. So to say he hasn’t kicked a ball isn’t true.

He’s a quality player who made a bad career move. Tierney is quality too but his injury history is a concern. Tierney isn’t lauded by Arsenal fans, he’s viewed as a hard worker who isn’t quite at the required level. Jota was just as hard a worker as Tierney too so that’s not a valid argument.

Jota, no contest. Kieran is too much of a sick note. Would be madness to pay someone tens of thousands a week who will be on the treatment table more than the pitch.

We've maximised the profit opportunity with Jota, we could never dream of selling him for anywhere near £25 million again. That's a key reason why the board will not be interested.

Is there any sort of reasoning/excuse to why Jota couldn't even hack it at Rennes? Signed for £6.5 million I believe, made 3 starts and was told he can move on. That is a major red flag to me.

Loved the guy for us but not a chance we should be considering going back in for him.

New manager prefers another player ahead of him. Moving to that Saudi team was really the worst move for him given that he wasn't registered in their squad so barely played.

This 100%. People here thinking with hearts not heads.
I would even say odds of him signing would be bigger if Ange was here. He doesn't scream a Brendan signing at all. No resale value either. Rennes would want to recoup most of the 6 mill. He would never command a sizeable fee again if we were to sell him just going by his cv showing Celtic is the only place he could hack it regardless of any circumstances at other clubs.

All the people saying he'd be mad to turn that money down... I just can't understand their way of looking at these things. I doubt Jota will ever fulfill his potential now. You only get one life to be the best version of yourself and he was already going to be an extremely wealthy man. It was a truly mental decision to take even more wealth over the chance to develop into a world-class player.

Maybe he just wanted to be absolutely loaded. I’ve seen plenty of our fans saying they’d have taken the same move if offered that money, so even if you can’t understand it, it isn’t an uncommon perspective.

I think he was already loaded by any sensible definition of the word and was always going to be filthy rich by moving to England or Spain. It was an already wealthy young man choosing to become ludicrously rich and risk not fulfilling his potential over being "merely" extremely wealthy and fulfilling it.

Well, I guess he got what he chose. He's ludicrously rich and he'll never be a world-class player. He'll regret that IMHO.

I say that with sadness, because I wanted him to succeed and still hope I'm wrong and he turns it round.

I would disagree. Even in his short cameo today against spurs, Tierney showed he’s still got it. Got an excellent left foot on him, which we need badly
