Rodgers has previous for this with Tielemans at Leicester. Worked a treat there the year they won the FA Cup.

Penalty aside, I think he was poor. He looks great when the going is good but I want to see him grab a game and take control.

When you seen him, Hatate and Kuhn coming on, it should really be enough to swing any domestic game our way but none of them made the desired impact for me.

Balls of steel for the penalty, I know he struggled a bit with the pace of the game but we missed him a lot today.

Great pen. Don’t know why he didn’t start. Has just been starting to stamp his authority down then finds himself benched again. People will say rotation but what’s he started 3 games on the trot? There’s a cup game at home on Saturday isn’t that the time for a bit of rotation. We will now have to start our strongest team before a big CL game as if we go out on Saturday after another poor game last night then could get a bit messy.

Our midfield will never settle as it’s getting changed every few days unnecessarily.

I'd argue on the contrary.. the Cup game more important than last night, given we have a 16pt lead..

And Rodgers usually likes to start the side in the CL, that's played the previous game..

Not, sure if that will change with the amount of games we've had..

He's defintely nailed his position now tho. For me, along with McGregor and McCowan.

I've said before and still think there is more to come. He has great athleticism and delivery but is rash in the tackle at times and a bit rushed in his play. Once he settles down we should see big improvement.

I do agree on this, we are changing things an awful lot in there.
Is the reason midfield are struggling? Hmmm, mibbees aye, mibbees naw.
Brendan needs to find his best 3 and play them majority of time.
    YBB coming soon!!!

Giving away ball to easily and committing silly fouls.

Right, surely I'm not the only one who is still yet to be anywhere near convinced by this lad, far, far, far too negative in possession, too many side and backwards passes, of course, can't pass the ball forward every time, however, he is far too cautious and goes backwards way too often when the option is definitely there to move the ball forward, I don't see him bursting past players and gliding with the ball, I don't see good tackling, he's actually looking weak in the tackle, his shooting from open play is extremely poor, hence why he's only got one goal from open play this season, can keeping using his age as an excuse but he should be showing far more, especially now that he's been here half a year, all he done that half was play a great ball across the box which Hatate should have scored from, outside of that, nothing positive to shout about

Praised him when it's been due this season, but I'm not a fan.

He may excel more but it wont be in this midfield 3 of him, cal and Reo.

If we get a ball winner in there that lets him operate up the park as far away from our defensive zones, then i'd be happier with that.

He was extremely poor tonight , but has had some good performances of late.
Still not sure what his best position is or what he truly excels at. He was running in behind in the channels and wide areas during that spell while Kuhn and Maeda were out which didn't happen at all tonight.

I thought he played well tonight. Gave it away a couple of times but had great energy and some excellent touches and passes.

Probably should’ve had an assist if Hatate didn’t balloon it over the bar.

I don't think the way we're playing suits him very well. In his time at Augsburg, he was serving effectively as a deep-lying playmaker in a counter-attacking team. Ideally we'd want to see him do somthing similar, picking up the ball in our half and sticking a quick one over the top to Maeda or Kyogo making the run.

Unfortunately, we seem to have fallen back into the mould of Rodgers 1.0, favouring short passes along the deck, which our team basically don't have the technical ability to pull off. I don't see that he'll thrive in this set-up, though to be fair, few are.
