A kid on TikTok started singing "Luke McCowan Chocolate bar" to the tune of "Glasgow Celtic Champions" and it caught on a bit. That's genuinely it :56:

I thought the chocolate bar patter was because he looks to have put on a bit of timber.

Luke has been a great signing for us, low dollar too.
If we had spent 4 or 5M on some foreigner, folk would still be happy with the signing.
Makes me think, are there a few similar type players floating around the SPL that we should be looking at snapping up for buttons?

I think there often is, probably easiest in midfield, where you have 5 or 6 players anyway. We often sneer at players from teams in our league, but bring in players from mid table clubs in Sweden, Norway or even second tier Korean teams and pay plenty for them.

I always thought that Danny Armstrong would probably be a half decent backup winger.

There is always someone. McCowan is technically miles ahead of most players in the league though

I think he's much better as an impact sub. Good goal but fades out of the game.

Poor game. Everyone in our midfield was the same. Started well but really quickly faded out of it.

Good endeavour, likable and has some quality but he probably shouldn't even be in the conversation..

I know we've got games every other day but if Hatate, Bernardo etc were in any kinda form....he wouldn't be starting..

I'm no feeling it with him fir some reason. Love his attitude, good Tim humble boy and all that, but disappears too often. Always a goal threat which is handy and will get plenty minutes, but definitely is backup level.

He is quite rightly in the conversation. He contributes just as much as our other midfielders. He's technically sound (better technically than Bernardo), tries his heart our and gets goals and assists.

Why shouldn't he be in the conversation? Cause he's a wee guy we bought from Dundee?

You're doing him a massive disservice

He's another I think lacks pace when the going gets tough. His first touch can be sloppy as *..

He's a decent wee player who I like. I just think we should be sorting that midfield out a bit....and when it does, he'll be down the pecking order..

As I say, the only reason I don't think he is....is obviously our volume of games just now but with our better midfielders no doing enough..

He started really well then was poor.

Good wee player but as others said, better as an impact sub most of the time.

As you say he should be a valuable squad player if we are serious about improving. Get some genuine quality in the centre of the park and players like Like can add depth he's a handy player no doubt but we have the resources to improve .

He's shown more than both, Hatate & Bernardo recently.. he starts for me, just now.

He was brutal after his goal, i was shocked to see his numbers yesterday though.

G/A every 86 minutes is front 3 numbers unless you’re Yang

He certainly, by any measure, was not ‘brutal’.

I think both McCowan and Hatate would benefit from playing more of a central role, further up the park with the protection of having two deeper midfielders that rotate between one sitting and the other supplementing the attacking play.

McCowan has been a good investment for £1m, where he lacks in physicality he does have the ability to create chances and score goals. I would like to see him impose himself on games more, like he did in the 5-0 Ross County game and I think playing more advanced and centrally would allow him to do that.

His biggest weakness is in transitions. The other night when you combined him, McGregor and Bernardo you have zero pace in that midfield.

I do think it’s weird one overall with our centre of midfield when have 5 capable players but still have some real deficiencies in terms of energy, strength and pace from one perspective and creativity and a killer pass from another.

We aren’t going to be able to buy one player that has all that as your talking £50m+ probably but I do think we need to be looking at two over the next to windows and moving Hatate on whilst he still has some value.
