I want him back because he was great for us. But mostly because I want to hear Brendan try to pronounce his name again.

I've seen loads of folk say this but tbf never actually noticed any link confirming it.

    Think this is mad tbh.

He's only 25. Made a poor move (albeit not financially) and just hasn't got back on his feet.

When sinclair came to us at 27 folk were saying sumular until he started working with Rodgers again. I also doubt he's lost any motivation, particularly playing for us.

    Agreed.

He may have lost a bit of spark to him, who knows.
But the two situations he's found himself in, aren't his fault and * happens. He just needs to move on again, quickly, to find somewhere to call home.

If that's us, I'd be absolutely over the moon.
If not us, he's one of the few players I think most of us would like to see do well and have a good and enjoyable career.

Saudi was all money, no doubt about it. Along with the culture experience for a guy who likes to see the world.
France was to try and find his place again. He picked a good sized club as well. But changing of managers while he was injured, that's not his fault at all.

You have to spend a full tax year in Saudi to get it tax free, which means from April to April. He never got that so he was paying some form of tax in Saudi. It’s highly likely he was given some sort of incentive to leave but we will never know.

In terms of tax to this country, he will be taxed on the earnings he gets from when he signs with us. He paid his tax up to the point of leaving the country, he will not have to pay any tax on the money he made over there because it would have already been taxed. In fact, it’s likely he paid a large tax in France when he joined Rennes.

If he wants to come here, he will come here because the club will 100% be interested in signing him if he’s available.

Yeah I want him back hopefully it can happen and he's coming back to somewhere that suits both parties... but Brendan saying "Brownie" was the best for me :57:

If he gets to the level he was at when playing for Celtic I’ll eat my hat.

Unfortunately, lack of ambition at that age can have consequences.

Nice player but we can’t have folk who aren’t committed to the cause and as far as the Twitter rumours suggests, he’s not keen on a return to Scotland.

    Leave him be

Literally life changing money and a lot of football eyes (not fans) on the Saudi situation last few seasons.

Lack of ambition is a bit harsh to be throwing out there.

He was outstanding but I'm kinda with you on this..

For one, i don't see it happening again anyway but two, I think we should be looking elsewhere..

Just the gut feeling that we've had that special time and I don't think it would be as good this time around..

Another thing that has to be remembered is he and Ange were meant to have had an excellent relationship. In fact Ange is the only coach to rely get his top level from him.

There is definitely a chance he could come back be one of the main men again and thrive in that role, as I think he did have star quality. At the end of the day the finances involved for the club and him were above his value anywhere bar Saudi.

    Fair enough.

Will agree to disagree. I still think he just needs to get settled and back upto speed somewhere. You don't lose the talent he had in 18 months or so.

I don't thjnk he will be back here for what it's worth but I definitely wouldn't say no.

I mean he did love it here and was idolised...

If he came back he wouldn't be half hearted, made his money etc.. he'd be playing for the jersey and us..

    It could definitely work.

Whether Rodgers wants him, is a different matter.

Watching a compilation of Kyogo's goals and the service he provided him was brilliant. Not always a fan of going after former players but if it was an option I'd definitely want him back. Not sure it's in his plans though.

If he’s available for the prices he’s being linked with, £6m and lower, and Rodgers doesn’t want that it’s * mental.

I think though, Jota himself doesn’t want to come back, he had such a special time and connection to the fans here, in a different team, with a manager he loved who got the best out of him. He’s had 2 moves that hasn’t worked out now, I can see him not wanting to touch his time here just incase it’s something that doesn’t work out like the recent moves, and it taints his time at us.

If Ange was still manager I think he’d have no doubts at all and push for it, and 2/3 months into Saudi career he apparently was pushing to come back already. 2.5 years of no success and low confidence though? He’ll want to keep what he had here, and have a thirst to prove to himself and others that he can do it elsewhere not flash in the pan.

But he’s on the way to being a Paddy Roberts type of career. Also me being an * psychologist about rumours and whispers about him and a couple interviews months old now. But that’s why we talk * on the internet innit. Cos I’d have the Randy Marsh of all Randy Marshes if we somehow line up Tierney, Jota and Kuhn, AJ the other side. Put Maeda wherever. Free role or something

Not sure mate. Tax laws really aren’t something I know much about.

I don’t know enough about it to be sure but I think it could be to do with residency and where you live/work. For example you couldn’t work in Saudi as a worker in their oil and gas sector benefit from a tax free salary and live here in between being on and of shift for months/ weeks at a time.

Given Jota lived and worked in Scotland and left for work but then would be coming back in a relatively short time his income earned during that time away, if he took up residency here again could be eligible for UK tax, just like if someone went out to Saudi as I say as an oil and gas worker then came back here.

I know the situations are different as they would be in active employment outside the UK whilst living here but that is why there is a rule about being out of the UK for more than a set number of days for 2 years I believe.

Don’t get me wrong there will undoubtedly be ways around it that a qualified tax advisor would be able to provide advice on but I don’t work in that field so I have no idea.

There constantly seems to be loop holes found then eventually closed and something else done to find a new way round it.

This, if we could get him back at a fraction of the cost then its a no brainer. He’ll have a good amount of time to get fit and sharp if he comes in this month to be up to level for next season. We’d be daft to overlook him.
