I actually wouldn't be against getting a creative winger in and pushing Daizen into CF if Kyogo leaves.

Not sure what sort of message that sends to Idah right enough but to keep the pace and work rate and add creativity would freshen things up for me without too much upheaval.

 

Played him upfront in pre season and he scored loads. I'd be fine with that if we sign jota on the wing

 

Atlanta United president Garth Lagerwey was put on the spot about Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi amid transfer swirls.

The striker was preparing to face Dundee United at Parkhead on Wednesday night when the rumour mill was sent into overdrive after an article appeared on the Major League Soccer website announcing that he had become the latest designated player at the club. Since then, the MLS have apologised over the post stating: "Major League Soccer's website mistakenly posted an article that named the wrong player as having signed with an MLS club



That sparked questions for Lagerwey over the prospect of signing the Celtic hero. Speaking to The Atlanta Journal Constitution he refused to directly address a move for the Japan international, but said: "There are fewer good players available in the winter versus summer. But please don't misunderstand: There are good players available in the winter, and if we can get the two that we think are right, we'll get them now


What we won't compromise on is we won't sign a lesser player in an effort to do it quickly." In terms of the DPs (designated players), those are the big focus and can we get the right guys in by the start of the season?"

 

Still not convinced they didn't just make a balls up and release the wrong announcement early, other than being half Japanese there's nothing to mix this other guy and kyogo up, names aren't similar, this lad is coming from the jleague and the story they posted named us and the trophies he'd won here, along with being a designated player which the other guy isn't, I'll be happy to be proven wrong come the end of the window and kyogo's still here but I'm not really buying this was a case of mistaken identity, the MLS official website will be getting it's designated player info directly from the clubs, it's not some clickbait reporting rumours.

 

I love Kyogo but if you're getting a whack of cash in the summer I would go for it.

I wouldn't sell him in this window unless it's a stupid offer like £20m.

 

Think he’ll go either this window or in the summer and we’ll accept between £10-15m. Think if we try asking for £20m we’ll price teams out of buying him.

Saudi teams after Jota will be put off buying from us. Then at the £20m mark no one’s buying a 29 year old from the Scottish league in any of the top leagues.

if we want to make a profit on him we need to sell whilst he still has a high value and I think there’s more to this MLS * up. Doesn’t make any sense and the recent words by him in the interview above^ are even stranger he doesn’t deny it.

 

Kyogo, I'd keep till his contract runs out.

Not buying at all that he's a lesser player this season than his first two seasons.

We've got four years out of him, to be fair that's more than most foreign players we sign these days, so I'm happy enough with the time we've had so far.

But for me, he's the guy you let run a contract down and if he moves on for a free, so be it.
He is far more valuable to us than any sort of 5-10m that we may be able to get for him.
Mls teams aren't spending more than 10m on players anyway, they certainly won't break that sort of figure for Kyogo.

Only sell if we have have a replacement ready. At the moment thats not Idah and we could do without losing Kyogo at the end of the season and be scrambling around still trying to get someone in on deadline day. Probably paying way over the odds too.

 

Can't sell him, just can't, drop off from him to Idah far too seismic, don't trust us to find better either, he must stay

 

I think you're giving far too much financial credit to the Saudis here... After all, they bought Jota and HIS REPLACEMENT in the same window... Not exactly the standards of a well run structure! If they want a player, dropping £20M vs £10-15M just doesn't register on their radar.

 

Wee man was outstanding. 2 good goals and that ball for the Yang penalty. Keep him at all cost.
