Kyogo , Jota, MOR, Abada, Maeda, CCV, Hatate, Johnston, Hart, Juranovic, Mooy, Giakoumakis ( insanely good incoming in only 2 seasons )
5/6 trophies , extreme entertainment , attacking, hun skelping football
Coming in to a mess that finished 20 odd points behind them
Rodgers has Ange's signings to thank for getting him over the line last season after he signed 7 or 8 duds in the summer
    Revisionism indeed.....

    Ange was the man

Im not against Rodgers either, I think we played really well August-December but the last 8-10 games we do look stale, even though we've won and been scoring mostly.

Theres a bit of a lack of creativity and even the subs since Forrest got injured, when we swap the striker it doesn't really change anything as we don't really provide and it's not like one is out of form or doesn't play well they generally do fine but out wide we've no subs to give us hope.

We should be bringing in two attacking players this window to replace Yang and Palma.

Not necessarily a bad patch but we weren’t playing brilliant for whole games and often had things go our way when we needed them.

    - Hibs 3-1 the game Hatate went off, we were 1-0 down and they got a man sent off for a cheap second yellow, it was 1-1 into the last 10 and we managed to get 2 goals.
    - Ross County 2-0 we scored a penalty and then got a screamer from Bernabei in injury time to add gloss
    - Rangers 3-2 when we conceded that late goal to them we were hanging on at the end having been cruising in the game.
    - Killie 4-1 we were great for half an hour then turgid the rest of the game. Killie were abysmal like big up and unders into their own box and everything. But granted very comfortable.
    - Motherwell 1-1, we were poor and lost a ridiculous equaliser.
    - Hearts 2-0, we were pretty awful that game but got the goals in the second half.
    - Rangers 3-0 defeat, changed team but we were as bad as we were just there.

After that we did change the team about so can forgot about those games. We were also pretty poor in the 1-0 win for the Scottish cup semi final against them.

Also the three games in November we were pretty poor and needed two injury time goals vs Dundee Utd at home, had a nervy finish at Fir park against Motherwell and were poor against Ross County at home but got two decent goals to get us back from 1-0 down.

If you just laid out results since we been labelled to be in a blip this season you would get:

    Killie (a) 2-0
    Hearts (a) 4-1
    Ross County (h) 5-0
    Aberdeen (a) 1-0
    Hibs (H) 3-0
    Rangers (N) 3-3
    Dundee Utd (A) 0-0
    Motherwell (H) 4-0
    St Johnstone (H) 4-0
    Rangers (a) 0-3
    St Mirren (h) 3-0

So without context that looks a dominant set of results too, with the major off day being that Ibrox game.

The fact that our performance levels dropped when Forrest was unavailable, shows where the problem lies. Ange for the most part, had players to come on that were as capable as winning a game than the starting eleven.

Think the main difference was under Ange strikers always had chances on a plate every game, so you went into every game expecting to score, I think actually Kyogo, Giakoumakis and Oh all averaged a goal better than 90 minutes in their Celtic careers under Ange.

Now our strikers barely get a sniff, so you are cautious even at home to Motherwell or whoever that whos actually going to score although we are scoring, the football is more random and you trust us less.

We're not spotting Kyogo's runs like we did under Ange.

He also needs to somehow get the Idah of last season back, where he was unplayable away to Killie. Giakoumakis would have been more likely to succeed in this team than Oh, as he put himself about more and scored more important goals.

Ange Postecoglous League Performance Season 2022-2023
    Played 38 Games, Won 32, Drawn 3, Lost 3, GF 114, GA 34, GD 80, Pts 99
Brendan Rodgers League Performance Season 2023 - 2024
    Played 38 Games, Won 29, Drawn 6, Lost 3, GF 95, GA 30, GD 65, Pts 93

And this season we have clearly improved - 13 points clear, 53 points and on target for 98 or so. GD of 48, on target for 80plus.
League cup in bag, on track for treble.
1 game to qualify in UCL for first time in many years.

    Not too bad I'd say.

To get the best out of Idah, you need Bernado starting in midfield too. They too developed a very good understanding together last year.

I take your point on GG, he was far superior to Oh, and Ange starved him of games at the end, because of a petty media fallout.

Shame. Poor man management that was.

Kyogo is getting plenty service still.

What folk are choosing to ignore is the fact he's miles off form and missing chances galore.

The Japanese players and Mooy were the only players he'd have directly targeted.

The rest, all great signings but we went through a spell where we got lucky. That's sometimes what happens. I'd say he then went on to have quite a poor few windows following that January 2022 window.

Regardless, we had games where we struggled to break down teams under him. That's the point I would make.

I loved the guy. Still do. But people talk as though it was always plain sailing and we blew teams away week after week. We didn't. Last min winners away to Ross County, home to Dundee United and without doubt other examples, mixed in with 9-0 vs Dundee United aye. Point is you'll get periods of mixed form under every single manager.

It's something many of our fans don't seem to understand. The uproar over the past few days has been nothing short of embarrassing, in my opinion.

True. How can the manager do something about the attempt at 2 mins in?

Yeah, kind of ironically, the manager being the biggest culprit on that front.

As for "panic" you're way off the mark there, possibly even looking for an issue where there isn't one, or indulging in a wee bit of revisionism of your own even. I would say the overwhelming reaction after the hun game was anger and disgust at the performance. In fact, i think i could confidently say there wasn't a single celtic fan, anywhere, panicking about it.

Well you've not looked very far then if you didn't see any fans panicking about it. Not sure how you can confidently say that. So I'd disagree I'm "way off the mark".

The performance was terrible bit I've seen plenty of nonsense being spouted. The way this thread has been you'd think we had been playing terrible, eye bleeding football and losing games for months.

There’s yet more revisionism. Rodgers inherited a team that won the treble minus key components to the team, and then had horrendous luck with players getting injured. I was actually talking about Ange’s second season when I made my point earlier. There were a fair few games that season we scraped over the line. Seems to be overlooked by some though. I never mentioned elite coach champ. What he is, is a very good coach, and a better one than Postecoglou, and probably the best we can hope for. Rangers collapsed when Postecoglou was here as well. What’s your point?

The whole song book first half has been about ex players, quite funny tbh.
