why doesnt rodgers show taylor a bit of respect and get him the pay raise he wants to stay ? thats if he actually wants to stay which i suspect he doesnt in which case * him. i would hazard a guess that tierney will be offered more money and take taylors place right away .i know what i would find more disrespectful

 

I never heard any chants about KT but I did hear a lot of moans and groans before we scored but I put that down to our * performance against the huns and the fans getting fed up with the sideway passing and slow build up. I think our fans pay good money for our season books and are entitled to have a wee moan now and then. So, I think Rodgers is out of order slaghing us off and he should know that we will never be as toxic as the fans of other clubs.

100% was a nervy patch midway through the first half, and I agree it was due to that result during the week. A very poor performance is obviously going to dent everyones confidence a bit and that's exactly what happened. We started slowing the passing down a bit and St Mirren started getting into the game and the nerves kicked in a bit I think.

 

Watched his full presser, seemed to have lost the plot, was liking watching baldy from the huns I thought

Really suprised as always think one of his main strengths is dealing with the press, your going to get moans with a back pass, if you've spent 90mins against the huns messing up with it between 2 cbs and a dm, if there's talk about KT the fans are going to sign his songs and rightly so

 

Could tell the press were shocked by it as well. The room was silent for spells between his wee outbursts.

Seems like a response to the criticism from Thursday but he's only handing it out now because it's after a win and he can brush the other day under the carpet.

I understand where he's coming from in terms of it not helping the players when they hear groans from the stands etc. But after that debacle the other day, and with our general level of performance for much of the last couple of months, it's not difficult to see why the groans were happening.

We've been seeing a return to the side to side, recycling of the ball. Schmeichel, Trusty/Scales, CCV and McGregor just passing it amongst themselves. And wouldn't you know, when we are direct and go for it, we can carve teams open like we did for the first goal.

There's a balance to be had. Of course we need to go back to go forwards sometimes - every single team has to do that. But we're starting to see a lot more needless, passing the buck and unwillingness to show bravery on the ball.

Fans are well within their rights, as paying customers, to GROAN, not boo, when they see a lack of creativity, urgency and ideas.

He needs to check himself on this one. As somebody above me said, hes usually very astute when dealing with the press, so this is a bit of a riddy from him.

 

Fans are entitled to moan. I think given the season we are having, Rodgers is within his rights to call fans out for moaning. Some of our fans need to give their head a wobble at times.

I have to say I get frustrated with the groans. It's hard breaking down a team who sit deep and have a game.plan to stifle you.

 

In all honesty, hes probably the only realistic candidate for Spurs if they sack Ange. Maybe potter.

But his history with Levy would probably veto his "availability".

Think he’s quite right to have a pop about the moaning from the fans at a few backwards passes in the early stages because it is counterproductive and probably puts the players on edge slightly.

The rant about the Tierney chanting and Taylor being under-appreciated was just bizarre however especially coming from a guy who’d have all the media training he has and usually has the press eating out his hand. I get he wants to back his player, but jesus * there’s surely better ways to go about it rather than publicly stating Taylor isn’t a champions league level player but it’s fine cause there’s been 100’s of other Celtic players in the same boat over the years.

Just completely bizarre and obviously a reaction because he’s not happy at some of the criticism from Thursday. He should know as much as any Celtic manager, after a great result, i.e RB Leipzig he and his team will get all the praise going, but after a complete and utter * up like Thursday they’ll just have to take it on the chin and improve. That’s the way it always has been at Celtic.

I can understand his frustration at the groaning early in a game as it is noticeable but the reaction to the Tierney song is bizarre to say the least literally nobody has mentioned Taylor and in no way shape or form was it a dig at Taylor it was a mere acknowledgement of what seems to be the worst kept secret in football. In attempting to needlessly stand up for Taylor he also * him under the bus with the CL comment and has probably put a bit of a target on his back in doing so.

Pointless, needless and utterly daft from a guy who should know better

 

Tbh mate, I never heard any moaning towards the players from the fans today. I did hear moaning about the St mirren time wasting which was allowed to go on from the first * minute right enough.

 

I'm sure there maybe is a plausable explination for his annoyance at the Tierney chants:

1. An over-excited fanbase singing his name during transfer negotiations may affect the dealings. If he is SO high priority, then it doesn't help when trying to negotiate prices down, i.e., loan fee, etc. It is a delicate one, as it is a player we sold to them for £25m. He doesn't want anything to be jinxed, let's say.

2. If he would like to have both Taylor and Tierney on board, then fans showing a preference for one before their even in the door, when the other is already the starting player, doesn't help keeping all parties committed and satisfied. Can be filed under player management.

3. He was probably quite shocked at hearing it, as there probably haven't been many instances of players names being chanted before they are even here (not to my knowledge), and he hasn't experienced managing something like it before.

4. What kind of message does this send to Valle, and Barca?

5. Worst case scenario: The transfer for Tierney doesn't materialise this window, or even worse - at all. He is then left trying to do a deal with a player who has given a lot for the club over the years and feels under-appreciated, and that puts the club under more pressure when trying to do deals for new LBs.

And numerous other factors I may have overseen as I don't have a crystal ball. All things considered, I like Taylor and want to see him stay with the club, and if we can have him and KT, we are in a fantastic position domestically and in Europe.

 

agree with most of that mate. No issue with the comments about fans moaning but the tierney/taylor stuff was unprompted and unnecessary. He’s been very good with the media this season so maybe just a one off. Think he’s still smarting from the Huns game tbh
