The thing is, it wasn't a myth when he first signed. Perhaps too much was made out of his shooting from outside the box based on a couple flukey goals, but his vision and creativity were genuinely very good. He has apparently regressed both in that regard and in his actual technical ability. If you were to compare his pass accuracy year-on-year, I guarantee you'd see a substantial decline.

I don't know what's happened to him but he is a shell of the player that first turned out for us.

Something definitely off with him. Maybe its a case that he feels hes done his time at the club now and wants a change

Totally unreliable, the LAST player you want in your team when we found ourselves in the situation we were in at Ibrox. An empty jersey who was never in a million years going to dig us out of that hole.

That was all kinds of bad the other day. I can deal with players having an off day but Hatate just gave up after about 10 minutes. Unforgivable.

I don’t think he can play the way Rodgers wants his midfielders to, and that makes the things we know he can do as well very poor him overthinking everything. The annoying thing though is if you could point to a game he excelled in doing exactly the job BR would expect it was him in the RBL game.

BR wants midfielders to be incredibly safe on the ball, but creative and pick the right moments to do so. O’Riley last season, infact under Ange as well, his style is what Rodgers loves. Creative as * still but incredible at keeping possession and not doing the low percentage risky passes.

Hatate thrived under Ange with the freedom of losing the ball. And he kept it better then than now. Under BR when he tries to be safe with his passing and not take the opportunity of risky creative might not work but what if it does sorta pass, and checks himself from doing that more natural thing for him, and goes for the safe one, he misplaces it a lot.

Conversely I think Rodgers is desperate for him to be able to click and do that as well, and has gave him opportunity to do so when he should be off the pitch. And it’s notable since RBL he’s majorly done it, because that game was exactly what he wants from him, and he was incredible. But it’s not helping Hatate now that, it’s making it worse. But the thing is, far too sporadically, it looks like he’s got it. And the St Johnstone game just before was one of them. But that at Ibrox him coming out after half time, that wouldn’t help the team, the result, what he would be saying they need to do in the dressing room and it really wouldn’t help Hatate himself. Both him and Scales should have been subbed at half time, for the team first yes but for both of them being took out the firing line. They were steadily worse and worse desperate for half time. Scales regrouped to an extent. Hatate didn’t and was hooked, and they immediately scored. Too late it happened.

I was happy to see him dropped and was equally happy to see him putting the effort in when he came on.

This rollercoaster with him is going to continue until the day he leaves.

He’ll end up putting in one his Zidane performances soon and be back to being the messiah again, mental how long this has went on with him now - literally years. You’d think he’d be craving more than anything to resolve his consistency issues.

Thought he was decent when he came on today. He was very good against St. Johnstone, and very good when he come on against Motherwell too. Been far better than McGregor in recent times, and probably better than Bernardo as well.

im guessing the part where you said he’s been better than Calmac and Bernardo. Because that’s a * wild take

I also said in recent times. It’s not wild at all I don’t think. McGregor hasn’t kicked his own * since probably the Ross County game at the end of November. Bernardo has had a few decent games, but nothing to write home about either.

Leave him on the bench. 20 - 25 mins cameos are about all he's up to plus the fact that majority of those around him have already played 70 mins seems to suit him.

Hatate has been better recently coming off the bench, the same for Kyogo.
I want to see Rodgers give Idah a run of starts to get him up to speed and see what he can contribute, a big guy like Idah neads more than 25 minutes here and there as a sub, to get the best out of him.
Ideally would like to see McGregor rested too, with Bernado sitting in the No.6 spot, backing up McCowan and Engels in midfield, that gives us a more balanced and combative midfield I feel.

Another joke of a performance when he came on..

Gives it away constantly. Fannying about in injury time by our box for that Sylla to go for goal..

    He has to go..

He does my * * in, more than any other Celtic player I can remember.

    His attitude is abysmal.

Passing was awful when he came on. Almost played them clean through at one point.

Has a real habit of playing dodgy passes inside. Sometimes he's incredible and starts off attacks from the same area, then other times he's terrifying and almost looks like he's slotting them through! Frustrating player sometimes.
