Never thought about it like that tbh, but it’s a good point you make.

Whilst I don't think it's correct to be lectured by someone who ditched us half way through the season for a Diddy club like Leicester I do agree with his comments about the groans regarding playing the ball backwards. There were times when St Mirren were sat in and we were clearly trying to create space and find holes and some fans around me were whinging. I felt fans were already a bit * off with the players for their bottle job performance against Rangers. Regarding Greg Taylor it is not as black and white as BR is trying to make out.

Hearing Brendan’s comments, especially on the back of that embarrassing performance on Thursday, has put me on a downer. This should’ve been a win that helped us move on from that mess instead it’s put a real dampener on the win and once again divided the fan base. He’s entitled to his opinion like the rest of us but I think he should’ve read the room and kept these comments for a time when it would have been better received, not 3 days after a 3-0 pumping by them.

What a way to take the shine off which should have been a good day considering the atrocious performance a few days ago.

Well said. For a guy who is normally, well spoken, and delivering the right messages at the right time, to the people who need to hear it. This is a bit off. He's entitled to his opinion, but he should have bitten his tongue until the next home game if the moans were still there after 15mins.

Think he's got the GT situation wrong. Fans are delighted KT is coming back. Thats all the singing signified.

But the message should have been, a good win and recovery after a bad performance in Thursday. We learn and adapt and move on.

I thought Rodgers was overly critical of supporters when there was no real need to be tbh, there's ways and means of making yer point, but he really seemed * off today for whatever reason.

I think at this stage people need to move on from Thursday, it's done.. he's ruffling feathers again like he did around the time of hearts and Motherwell away last season... Generally don't disagree with a lot of what he's saying.

Many agree with his points about the groans during games but I still don't get what he was trying to do by attacking supporters and singling out Taylor?

He usually knows exactly what he's gonna day before he's infront of the press so it's strange to say the least how far out his way he went there...and no least whilst mentioning the fans singing about the return of Tierney..

I think his head is still on Thursday time…

He didn’t like the criticism after the defeat to Sevco but used today as the opportunity to do a bit of axe-grinding for the media as there was nothing he could say or do to defend himself after that defeat/performance the other day.

It’s not the way to gain favour with the supporters who all have some degree of mistrust in him.

His ego will see to it that he doesn’t care anyway.

Honestly think there’s a lot of overreaction to Rodgers’ comments. It’s much ado about nothing.

Whether we like it or not; if he feels Taylor has been negatively affected by chants or abuse or whatever else then he’s 100% right to stick up for the player. If anything, it’s Taylor who needs to suck it up and get on with it. That said, if we sing about Larsson next week; we’re not being disrespectful to Kyogo.

As for his comments about the negativity amongst the support in some passages of play, I agree with him 100%. He’s not talking about later on in games, he’s talking about when the team is trying to settle into a rhythm and build their way into the game and he’s correct that it’s unhelpful for the fans to be on the players’ backs as early as a lot are.

As usual; a snippet will be taken and sensationalised though.

I mentioned earlier but I don't think he's fully recovered from the result on Thursday, same with a lot of the fans tbh.

It'll likely all have blown over by the next game, but when it's only been 3 days since the last game, things will still be a bit sore, especially when the huns are involved.

Agreed so for me it was strange to go out of his way to get a dig in..

Pretty much everyone agrees with the second part but to storm down the tunnel with Taylor and dig the crowd out for singing about Tierney was nothing short of embarrassing for me..

He’s neither laying the ground work for leaving nor is he still * at the reaction to the Huns game.

He’s plain and simply took the wrong angle to back his player, completely the wrong angle. And not only that he’s also taken it a step too far into the bargain.

Don’t disagree with that to be fair. He could have handled it a lot better. Ironically all Rodgers has probably achieved here is putting a bigger target on Taylor’s back.

He’s had an absolute * nightmare here. Like, it’s utterly mind boggling that he would turn on the supporters like that. For really, no real malice or reason.

I’ve said before, I think Taylor gets unfair criticism on here. We all know he’s limited in certain aspects of his game and he’s made a couple of mistakes this season that have caused us difficult moments in big games but he’s also had some really good moments that he doesn’t get any real credit for. So, I think he’s right to point out to some fans that he’s been an excellent servant who’s done everything for this club over the last 5 years and his winners medals speak for themselves.

That being said, I genuinely don’t think there was any malice or intent to be disrespectful from any Celtic fan today by signing Tierneys name. It’s clear that there is a buzz around the place about the potential of him coming back to the club and the fans know about it. Is it really that bad? Christ, back end of last season, The Bhoys were going through the whole songbook for ex players. The Stuart Armstrong song, The Jan VoH song. The Kieran Tierney song. The Larsson song. Aiden McGeady. Christ, it was like a legends songbook. It’s utterly bizarre that he’s take this the wrong way and it’s like he’s almost taken it personally. Why? It was a song about a very successful player, who’s loved and revered by a large percentage of the fan base. Rodgers is usually spot on with the media but he’s had a * nightmare here.

On the issue of fans groaning, he’s absolutely right. The Brugges game was * embarrassing. Never did I think a set of ours fans would become so * entitled that it would spill into a * Champions League group game, where there was almost an expectation that we should/would win. Some are younger fans, who’ve only seen success and some are older fans who don’t really look at football and how it’s changed it for us, both financially and competitively.

Overall, he’s made a rip roaring * of this one. He needs to play it down very quickly when the next press conference comes along because he’s rightfully getting the Leicester move shoved in his face and he looks like a complete, hypocrite.
