In the same sense though…that was Valle’s opportunity to prove himself against a better standard of opposition; which for me he (like the rest of the team) sunk into the background. Our full backs are a pivotal cog in our system, and for me he hasn’t shown enough to warrant pushing to sign him. I think Rodgers feels this too and if it wasn’t for Taylor’s contract situation I think he’d have played less

It was, but the chances of any sub coming on and making much of an impact while the guys around them who started were crumbling like dust was slim to none. That doesn’t excuse his lack of ability to control a football or pass to a teammate but it would’ve been naive to expect him to really do much yesterday. Their tails were up, had a full stadium behind them and if we’re being completely honest had a free shot at it (not excusing the disgraceful level of performance we showed) but for any sub coming into that game yesterday it was a huge ask.

Had he made those subs at half time I maybe wouldn’t have been quite so lenient on them, because that would’ve been the right time to make them. The break gave us the chance to hit the reset button, subs and a different approach might’ve been more effective then, but changing absolutely nothing was either pure arrogance or insanity, maybe somewhere in between and as such gave anyone coming on next to no chance right from the start.

Should’ve started IMHO but that wasn’t the most glaring issue from the off, inability to play out of pressure & xG of the opponents was the difference

Rodgers can be extremely stubborn. It was obvious from the cup final a few weeks ago that we struggled to play through the rangers’ press. Valle gives us the option to play around the press and stretch the game (which in itself opens up the game for our midfielders), but for some reason Rodgers didn’t want to utilise this yesterday and we played right into their game plan instead.

If Rodgers doesn’t see Valle as the solution then he’s as well heading back to Barcelona in January and it’s a position we desperately need to rectify.

Looked dreadful when he came on. Not a chance he is a long term solution.

Recall him winning an important challenge to stop them being through on the break.

Thought he was excellent today. Gave the ball away early in first half which ended up a chance for them to break but aside from that was really good. Not sure how realistic it is we could get him long term but I wouldn't be against it.

I love him. Think he's great and a lot of potential.

Needs to stay in the team.

Quality today. Really needs a run of games as he would be a huge plus for us if he started the young boys game

He’s just so good and that’s after not playing for several games, he really should be getting a good run of games now, adds so much more to the team.

He needs a run. Good player and bags of potential. Him and KT. KT wont be able to do 60 games and will need to be managed so he'll get more than enough minutes.

Was poor when he came on last night, but overall he’s been good/very good and Rodgers’ love of Taylor must be really disappointing for him - moreover given that he’s streets ahead of him.

Valle was signed as a stop gap, always got the feeling KT was meant to come back last summer and we then just looked around for a loan signing to fill the gap until KT was fit again

He's a very tidy player.. but he isn't streets ahead of Taylor.. different types of player and he may go on to be a better player. But isn't much in it at the moment..

The game started to turn when Taylor went off last night, as we lost the extra body in midfield.

Aye, if Tierney is coming in, best getting the lad out the door, even though I'd have liked to have seen him stay. If Taylor is willing to stay and sign a new deal, we all know he will get plenty of minutes with KT injury record, then I'd move ahead with a KT/Taylor combination at left back.

I still think Taylor will move on.

Valle is not a bad player, but I think I would rather have Tierney, he's a known product and big Celtic man.
Tierney and Taylor will do fine for me.

Don’t see him back at the club after his loan spell.
