Taylor is one guaranteed now IMO. One thing with us herding cash though, we can pick and choose bids to accept. We will accept bids but ones that will devastate us we won’t. We knocked back £25m from Atletico Madrid for O’Riley last January for that reason. We knew we could sell after that window, and too important to not have him.

Have seen very little from the player but can understand the Leverkusen link considering pending departure of the very key Tah. However, a few differences in what Alonso likely wants in a replacement, someone who can win aerial duels, deliver progressive passes from central defense and excellent pace & tackling in transition

CCV with a contract to ‘29 means Leverkusen have no leverage in such a transfer and Celtic could name their price if player desired a move there or anywhere else really. He’s at an age typically where big clubs look for a veteran who has not yet quite made the leap to WC

As a cule, I clock the ball carrying defenders more so naturally Scales jumped out in that he was the principle distributor from Celtic’s half. I didn’t see this with Cameron as he was essentially a sweeper in defense but noticed how comfortably he won any duel in his vicinity

6 years of loan after loan before settling at Celtic, not often you see that but looks like Spurs are similar to Chelsea in just amassing youth talent for sales as part of their business model. What does that do to a pro? I assume few allegiances but appears very happy at Celtic. From there, its really about player’s ambition and club’s strategy (financial & sporting)

When the summer transfer window closed, I said we should be looking to get CCV’s replacement in this window, because I could see him leaving summer 2025. He’ll have been here a while by then and may have thoughts of another challenge.

Thing about CCV is, and this might be entirely my imagination, but he doesnt seem the type to get his head turned so easily. Never seen a hint of discontent from him. Think he's happy where he's at, and Celtic shouldn't sell except for silly money

He will more than likely be open to earning an extra 20- 40 grand a week, unless he's a unicorn .

I think the goodwill we get from him comes from his nomadic past at Spurs and all the loans. He has found somewhere he is the main man of the defence and when fit guaranteed to play.

As mentioned above that will go so far but if a good team like a Leverkusen or Atalanta that are challenging at the top of the Bundesliga or Serie A then I would imagine he would be open to exploring that. We have him on a long contract so the fee would be substantial and there would be a question mark if either team would pay what we want for him.

And even though Leverkusen would lose a key defender for free, they have a tremendous asset in Wirtz who is likely to exit in ‘25 or ‘26, but I believe it is unlikely they’d pay a big fee for CCV or any other alternative

If 15-20m was the fee, definitely but above that I think only the biggest spending clubs would enter into it

The one Celtic player we shouldn't sell, under any circumstances - even £25M

I wouldn't sell him to be honest, not even for silly money. Unless he really wanted the move and he was playing up badly then we would probably have to consider it but he doesn't seem that type of person.

I actually agree. When I said only if the offer was insane, by that I mean 50m plus. He's one of the most important players we've had in a long time.

I think he goes if we’re offered £25 mil + for him. But I doubt leverkusen would offer that purely because of his age and injury record thankfully

BRENDAN Rodgers tonight stated he has not been made aware of any interest in Celtic centre-half Cameron Carter Vickers despite German champions Bayer Leverkusen being linked with a move for the United States internationalist.

Asked about stories linking Bundesliga outfit Leverkusen with Carter-Vickers, Rodgers said: “Listen, I haven't seen anything of that, to be honest. I suspect there will be interest in all our players and lots of gossip and speculation going about. But no, I think our idea is to improve our squad

Did his job competently. Not a comment that's normally worth making; but as he's the only one...

Bernardo wasn't good but wasn't utterly horrific. The other 9 starters plus subs stole a wage today.

A pass today for him. Easily the first name on the team sheet and if it isn't obvious, he cannot be sold for any money. Cannot overstate how important he is to us. Even today where he wasn't immense, he def saved us another of couple of goals.

The ONLY player that played well today, tackle in first half was brilliant.
Shame the other 10 and their subs didn't show up.

Yep, only player that turned up, badly let down by the rest, if it was up to me, CCV would be club captain, made for it

Was the O'Riley deal not an initial loan though with an obligation to buy ? It wouldn't have made any sense for us to accept that midseason. I'm still of the opinion every player will have a value and if that is met they'll be offski. The difference last summer at least was that we were willing to splash the cash for replacements I just hope that will continue
