Did you see the spurs play where it was unreal until the shot when two players ran into each other at once :56: how do you prepare for that as a manager hahah

Cmon mate. That’s Clement excuse stuff. It’s yet another game where they’ve been in front and are unable to see it out. It’s not unlucky when it happens time and time again.

I don't think Ange gets a bye for that TBH (and I'm pretty sure he would agree with me). That lack of awareness (at best) or selfishness (more likely) is exactly the kind of cultural thing that Spurs are famous for and that it's Ange's responsibility to change if they are to have any chance of winning anything.

I'm more referring to things like Son missing a penalty or having to play kids due to injuries or having to use a GK (bought before he arrived) that can't play the Ange way because he makes Joe Hart look like Ederson. None of that is under Ange's control.

Be interesting to see what he does Jan window. He’s spent on youngsters mostly, made rumblings of needing to bring in experienced pros now. He’s playing a young midfielder CB at the moment, another 21 year old back up CB - highly rated and money spent on him, and the experience he’s already brought in has been guys like Timo Werner.

Injuries and that have played a big part, but he’s not adapted either. More so than he ever did us seeing him for us, because he did that here and dragged points out. Spurs at times watching them the naïveté has been mental. Small example of that is while he would get Hart to play out from the back, he was allowed to not stick to it when he felt like it, Hart with the ball is considerably better than Forster with it, who needs to stick to that.

But the biggest thing not Ange like for me I’ve noticed which makes me think the squad doesn’t buy into what he’s wanting, they’re slow at shys. It’s not the constant relentless way he demands. And that if the squad are second guessing, he’ll be away shortly.

They absolutely need experience. Guys who can manage games. However, unless Ange can also adapt to try and be more pragmatic with a lead, they will still encounter similar problems to what they are now. That interview the other week after they’ve conceded 6 going on double figures against Liverpool and he brushes off the question from the reporter because they’ve got injuries was staggering. If I were a Spurs fan and listened to that I’m wanting him gone to be honest. Because he hasn’t even tried to change and try to protect the defence, but has complained about injuries to defence and keeper.

If I was Ange, knowing the budget will be lower and that January is a very difficult month to deal with usually, I’d be targeting guys who are out of favour at the bigger teams for quick loans and trying to get in players who have less than 18 months left on their deal for permanent deals.

I think they need more from the wingers. On the Left, Son is finished and Odobert is young and is out for * knows how long. A good left wing option would be Ademola Lookman, less than 18 months on his deal and Atalanta always want to make profit on their signings. If I was Ange, I’d be sending Werner back to Germany. I still think they’re short on the right side, too. Kulusevski is a decent player but seems to be better playing in midfield. Johnson just hasn’t performed. So, again, would be targeting someone like Mbeumo from Brentford. 18 months left on his deal.

Up front, they have Solanke and Richarlison, none of them have ever been prolific enough for me. Solanke had a decent season with Bournemouth before they sold him but he was never prolific the years before. Someone like Jonathon David, from Lille. He’s got an excellent scoring record and his contract is up at the end of this season.

They could do with some midfielders and Pasalic, from Atalanta, is another who is out of contract at the end of this season. He’s 29 now but he could still perform well in England and he’s been excellent this season. Julien Brandt could be another they target, who’s 28 and such a classy player. He has 18 months left on his deal and Dortmund might be willing to cash in.

They need centre backs. Badly. At least 2. Marc Guehi only has 18 months left on his deal. I know Palace were holding out for mega money, £80m was it? That’s another 6 months gone, with no contract extension so they might be willing to cash in on a reasonable figure now. Andreas Christiansen is out of contract at Barcelona and isn’t playing as much as he was before. He could be another option.

This was always the end game with Ange. Unless he was at Man City or Liverpool where he would have the depth of squad, he was doomed to fail. Moments of amazing football, injuries to players, drop in form. Temporary recovery, amazing football, injuries, lose games. An inability or pig headedness to adopt pragmatism hasn't helped him. Going to the skip fire that is Spurs after losing the clubs beat goalscorer in hindsight perhaps wasn't the best choice either. Good luck to him but is just a foot note for us.

Rodgers has came back as a better manager than when he left. Has shown a willingness to adapt his style (Atalanta and CL matches have shown this) and we look better now than under Ange. Good luck to him in whatever he does.

Atalanta when they’ve got a chance at their first ever title aren’t gonna sell players like those 2 mid season. The fans would burn the place down! Mbuemo is no better than Johnson and Christensen doesn’t play much for Barca cos he’s been jobby for the longest time.

Spurs actually have some unreal prospects out on loan at CB at the minute which is why I think there’s a reluctance to spend big there, hence them looking at skriniar for the short term. Guehi would be too expensive, similar to the fee paid for solanke like you said! I think Ange needs to do his usual and be smart with who he scouts.

David is an excellent suggestion but how much would Lille demand is the worry? Prem tax added and all that!

They actually played really well in that game as well, should probably have won it and with Spence and Gray at the back and Reguilon and that keeper making his debut. Could easily have been torn apart there but probably had the better of the game, for me they don't have good enough wide players.

Pretty much all the other top 10-12 teams in England have better wide players, Son is too slow now really to be a starting wide player for a team wanting to finish in the CL, Werner is stinking and Johnson should probably be a sub. Bournemouth, Brighton, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brentford, West Ham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, probably even Man Utd Wolves have a wee bit more quality out wide.

Solanke looks superb as well, I think he'd be doing some damage if they had wide players like even Semenyo and Mbuemo who have a bit of quality and mobility and can break at pace up there with him.

Baffled at how VAR let Newcastle's equaliser stand TBH. Genuinely baffled.

As I understand it, it’s not in the remit of VAR to intervene there. They can only get involved if the goalscorer himself uses his hand or the player who directly assists. A bit weird considering if possession was gained by any other type of foul, it would be brought back, but that’s the rule as it currently stands.

It’s very similar to Motherwell’s first goal against the Huns last week in that regard (except the one today was actually a handball).

Now I know what it must feel like to be walking the plank.
Ange must be teetering on the edge and feeling giddy. :giggle1:
