I think we will just have to agree to disagree. Turnbull was a dud as far as I am concerned.

Couldn't tackle, was slow as a snail, went missing way too often in games, and was so one footed it was sore to watch, he had to turn full circle to get the ball back on to his right foot.

And if you get sold a haddie from Motherwell, then you should be very wary about potentially getting sold another haddie. Very relevant I would say, however you try to splice it.

But if you want to be pedantic, then by all means keep popping.:BR1:

Should have signed him when value was £2-3M when risk worth taking, now the bigger boys are sniffing about he'll be £6-£8M.

Watched him very carefully, good SPFL player but not at that price and not any better than Turnbull - who has since shown his true potential in the championship.
Is he as good as Broon or Thompson, McGinn etc etc al?

His actual contribution to the club proves you wrong though, so it doesn't matter if you agree with me or not. It's a fact that he performed very well and made a big contribution while he was here, until injury hampered him again. 30 goals in 125 appearances. Won player of the month for us as well as Young Player of the Year. That's not what a dud is.

This part here is just dumb as * and completely illogical. Crosas wasn't a great player for us so I guess we should've passed on signing Valle in the summer, because they were both from Barca. That's what your logic comes down to, the common denominator in your argument being that the players in question came from Motherwell. A completely stupid way to look at signing players.

Personally think he’s too young to make the move to us or a big club, we would need to loan him out.

He looks a good technical player and a good size for his age but lack of pace will hinder him similar to Turnbull. He’s not worth more than £3M at the moment. Think he’d really suit Italian football to be honest, similar to Ferguson.

Keep flip-flopping on what I think regards miller whenever I see him. However if he was showing more consistency at 18 we wouldn’t even be in the conversation.

think he’s very raw still but at 18 I don’t think we can afford to let him pass us by. Even if we sign him and loan him out for 2 years that’s better than a Liverpool doing that then selling him for £10 mil+ in the future.

Turnbull was a good squad player for us. He contributed massively in Ange's first 6 months.

He was and I think people are really harsh on him. 30 goals and 23 assists in 125 games. Even last season his goals earned points. Injuries * him and I think he now turns into a journeyman but I think he did some important things with us. I think he earned all of his 3 leagues and 5 cups.

Turnbull was decent and definitely wasn’t a dud. But he was “just decent or average” was never worth the £3 million we paid for him. Like someone said he was one footed, lacked pace and did not really improve during his time.
I would say Luke McCowan looks better than Turnbull already. Offers the same goal threat but has better all round game.

On Lennon Miller of the times I have seen him (which is not a lot) I have not really seen enough to convince myself he is worth the £6 - £7 million that he seems to be valued at.

Turnbull that’s re-writing of history a bit. He was exciting and worth the outlay when he was there because he had the rare ability that he was a stats machine, he would score and set up goals like few others in his position, he done the same here, we hoped to elevate the rest of his game as well and it didn’t happen like hoped.

Lennon Miller is comparable only because it’s Motherwell, we are linked and it’s an obvious one. Stats wise goalscoring and assists Turnbull will look better, Lennon Miller has the full round game, is a leader, younger as well…

The question is if it’s that price for us is that worth it? In todays market though, Motherwell if it’s £6m-£7m it’s the lower end of the market for a player like him with the potential. Aberdeen got that for Calvin Ramsay for comparison.

A month ago it was £3.5m getting reported and that is insanely low for me and we should be all over it. £6m/£7m he’s worth it and more the way the market is, but is it worth it for us at that point? I don’t want to let him slip by us. Honestly I’ve seen a fair bit of him and the only comparison is Broony at Hibs and McCarthy at Hamilton for potential and ability

Turnbull is a good player but lacking the dynamism and intensity that is needed to play at a higher level. His numbers show he was a useful squad player for us, especially domestically with his long range shooting but my feeling at the time when he was sold was that it was no loss to us. I don't think I've thought of him since.

Lennon Miller has a similar profile imo, in that he seems decent on the ball but again lacks that intensity and dynamism. I believe tho that his best position is considered to be at no: 6, if his reading of the game is good and his ability to dictate a game from deeper is there then those physical attributes might not be so telling than if he was playing further forward but atm I don't see him as anywhere close to improving what we have and he would come in as a squad player with potential. For the prices getting quoted tho (£6m+) I don't see us pursuing it. If he's smart and getting well advised he should follow Lewis Ferguson's example rather than ending up in the EPL reserve league for someone like Liverpool.

I think Ramsey was about £4m. He'll be back at Aberdeen soon too I reckon, struggling in league 1.

£7m for me is just far too much. He might be worth that to a team like Liverpool who can spend that but not affect other business. £7m on a CM should be an instant starter but he wouldn't be.

Or do we go down the route of buying ready for the future? We sell Engles or McGregor retires and we pull through someone we have a paid for 2 or 3 years in the past?

We'd have to actually manage them properly though. We have no one coming through our youth ranks and that speaks volumes to young Scottish talent. Why come here? You're not going to get a chance.

Would offer 4m up front with some heavy incentives. That's the way any deal we make needs to be structured due to his age etc.

In saying that you had people on here, wanting to pay about £6m for that Toure whos 18 and played less than 30 games in Sweden. So again might be the old "he's scottish:" syndrome kicking in.

He's seeing a specialist after getting injured against the huns so he won't be moving anywhere anytime soon
