Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers made a massively significant statement regarding the January transfer window in his post-match interview this afternoon.

Rodgers revealed just how busy he hopes the club will be over the next month, with some huge fixtures during that time against the likes of Rangers, Young Boys, and Aston Villa.

He said: (BBC Sport), “We need more. We need to. It’s not just for now; it’s for our future, so we’ll always look to add to our attacking intent. I think, especially, January always gives you that chance to do that if there are players available. I always think being able to add goal threats to the team is important.

We did it last January—Adam and Nicolas came in last January and made a big difference for us. Especially Adam, at that time, he was a real catalyst for us. So, I always think adding goals, adding creativity, that’s something that hopefully we’ll be able to do in January.

“We just want good players. A good player might be a million pounds, they might be two million, or they might be six or seven. So yeah, the support is there to get the right player. It’s not just about getting a really expensive one.

“But yeah, we’re all in sync, we all know what our plan is, and if we can do that, it will be great, and that will be a huge boost for the squad.”

Positive comments. I'd expect about 3 minimum, can tell he will be seeing the same things we all are...

Good hes pointing out creativity, it's badly needed..

Pace and power Brendan. You've mentioned it before but that's what's also needed..

Name 1 player in world football apart from prime Cristiano who excels at both pace and power. I guess prime Wayne Rooney was a second one? You might find some more, but they are all world class players that we cannot afford. More often than not, pace and power don't go together. If you add muscle you lose mobility. If you lose muscle to gain mobility you lose stength.

Where to even begin with this.

By pace, I don’t think we’re expecting Usain Bolt. Matched with the power of Didier Drogba.

Moussa Dembele was a perfect example of pace and power.

If Tierney is fit he has both pace and power. Two of his biggest attributes.

Diawara from Lyon looks to have it, too.

Diawara looks slow. Powerful but slow.

The positions we will need filled/improved are:

Left Back (Tierney in with Taylor backup till end of season. Valle recalled by Barca)
Centre Back (another backup if either Welsh or Nawrocki leaves. New 1st choice if CCV leaves which is unlikely in my opinion)
Left Winger (need a creative alternative to Maeda)
Striker (if Kyogo leaves need a new number one. Also maybe a number three unless Kenny is given that chance)

Other positions that can also do with reinforcements are Right Wing (a decent backup/alternative to Kuhn), Defensive Midfielder (we have CalMac who is irreplaceable and Engels/Bernardo could fill that role but really think it would be good to have a natural defensive midfielder option in the squad)

Players I think we should let go would be:
    Bernabei
    Palma
    Yang
    Nawrocki
    Holm (loan out)

I saw something along the lines of 3 or 4 in and a similar number expected to go out. I could see us sign

    - LB, likely Tierney
    - LW who is expected to compete with Maeda and Kuhn to start.
    - A versatile AM/RW type player
    - A striker if Kyogo goes
    - A centre back, likely young development type if Welsh and Nawrocki move on.

    Out
    - Bernabei
    - Palma
    - Welsh
    - Nawrocki
    - Kyogo (possibly)
    - Taylor (possibly)

Personally I would like to see Yang and Holm get out on loan but that will likely depend on who we get in.

Kuhn has taken on the mantle of O'Riley since he left with goals and assists but we definitely need more from our central midfielders. Engels looked the real deal at the beginning and will come good but he isn't a box to box player. Maybe Bernardo will be that player in future and I do rate him highly but he isn't there just yet. Hatate can be phenomenal or atrocious. I still think we need a number 10. KT has to be brought in if it is at all possible, it's a no brainer. He instantly becomes one of our key players.

Feels weird going into a transfer window with a bit of optimism after that great Summer window. Think there is pretty much a concensus amongst most of us on what we need with LB and a Winger at head of the queue. Bring on the names!! Fecking love me a transfer windae!
