As much as it would be great to have Tiereny back he is not the Tierney who left us due to his injury issues and I just don't see how this would be a good move given how its hard to see how he could physically manage the sheer number of games we face every season and the very demanding style that we play under Brendan Rodgers.

Can a player that’s being hugely injury prone suddenly become not? Genuine question. Was wee Forrest not injured a helluva lot when he was young and came through that? We need a far better quality left back if Vallle goes. Trouble is if it’s KT it’s pretty unlikely we’d have a quality back up for him. Heart says yes, head pretty much says no. Course maybe he doesn’t want back so it’s irrelevant

Instead of playing him LB given the injury concerns, maybe at this stage of his career he'd be more suited to CB, he's played that position many times and excelled, very versatile player, imagine him and CCV alongside each other, that's an extremely solid pairing, keeping him away from running up and down the pitch at fullback which would make him more susceptible to muscle and tear issues

A 80% fit KT walks into first 11. He's a massive upgrade on what we have. You're right, 100% he's not the same player that left. He's better, he's been playing a far far superior level each week in a more demanding environment both, physically and mentally. The fact that he has had injuries has nothing to do with what we can get out him. We also won't be singing a player on epl wages so that position is irrelevant, he will know our structure already and if he agrees to come it shows his character.
Not to mention we have a squad where we can easily wrap him up if need be and still win.
With respect, I will trust the professionals and judgement of the Celtic backroom and manager over the opinions of fans on forums.

Don't see how he gets over his injury issues coming back here to a manager that some would say was a root cause of this.

Let alone coming back to league that will look to take advantage of that and go full hack job on the lad.

An 80% KT probably is better than a 100% Taylor.

But in the interest of fairness to Taylor, KT at 80% will struggle to be available for 30% of the time and atleast Taylor would be a consistent and reliable option, if so as to say he will largely always be fit and ready to be called upon.

I think every Celtic fan would love KT back, but the reality is, I think most of us struggle to see how he's worth the financial outlay long term when we could instead push to sign Valle permanently and get more game time from him in 2 seasons than we will out of KT over 5 seasons

    That’s Rodgers reaction when KT just said;

“Aye it’d be a free transfer gaffer”

Ah really? I thought there was talk of him going. And with the fact it looked like he had taken over first choice to be being back 2nd fiddle so quick that’s what was happening. Having 3 of them 2nd half of seaoson would be silly I think.

Just need to bring back Jota, VVD, Frimpomg, MOR and Moussa too and we're winning the Champions League.

Imagine his injuries are behind him. We would be getting one of the best left backs in the world.

Hes 27 and very much one of our own. Hes made his money. He turned up at Arsenal with his boots in a tesco bag. He lived with his Maw when he played here. So hes humble enough to take a wage cut.

McCarthy wasn't a scab he just wasn't good enough and DD took a major punt in wages. Would you give KT the same deal even knowing he might not play alot due to his consistency?

For everyone saying about wage demands and injury prone I bet I can find comments about you not getting the McGinn deal over the line or the Ivan Toney deal ect. We have the cash here to take the punt.

Saying all that I don't really care. Same reason I voted Yes in the referendum. I want him back in Celtic Jersey because thats what my heart wants and I've a suspicion thats what he wants too.

More I would safely assume . He may need a hefty signing bonus of whatever to ensure we technically stay within our salaried pay structure but his overall wage will need to be higher than 30k however it is paid out , lump bonus when he signs on , and/or hefty win bonuses for trophies. There will be West Hams and Newcastles that will happily pay him a lot more than 30k and we will need to be competitive with the offer , even though I do believe he will take less to come back here It can't be a chasm compared to his other potential offers. It may be his last proper contract .

Let’s be brutally honest here, 80% fit KT is really a 100% fit KT because he isn’t getting any fitter than 80%.

Don’t know why you’re saying I’m right about him being a completely different player. I never mentioned a single thing about him being a different player. In fact, I didn’t talk about him as a player at all. Seems weird to reply to something never once suggested.

Is he better? Are you genuinely trying to tell me the KT that’s playing for Arsenal now, is better than the KT who was getting absolutely lauded down there in his first 18 months? Come on man, take the KT tinted specs off and see reality. If he was better, he wouldn’t be leaving Arsenal for free. Let’s be realistic. Has his game improved in any way? It probably has, he’s probably adjusted his game to suit his style more. Probably learned things he never had before playing down south. Does it make him better? I’m not sure.

“The fact he has injuries has nothing to do with what we can get out of him”… eh yes it * does. That’s precisely why people are against this signing. His injuries are a worry. A massive worry. You’re downplaying it because it’s KT. If it was anyone else with that sort of injury record, not a single fan in here would be shouting to sign them, regardless of their quality.

Context is everything. KT will demand £25k a week up here. Now, that’s a huge drop in wages for him but he probably sees the long term benefits of it. Moving up here, back home and playing for his boyhood club for £1m a year. £25k a week isn’t a lot of money in world football but it’s lot of money for us and it’s a lot of money to be giving players who are never fit. Huge risk giving him anything that is guaranteed.

We all trust Rodgers and his staff. It doesn’t stop us having an opinion on players. Sometimes we are right to be against a signing and sometimes we get it wrong. We are still allowed an opinion. I don’t think we should be signing him and I hope the club don’t pursue it. Doesn’t stop me wanting the boy to be successful if he does end up here.

    Let the people sing
Don't really understand people trying to say we should be signing x or y instead of Tierney.

We need two LB'S in the next 6 months no matter what, people saying sign Valle instead of Tierney, why not both? or if not Tierney then Valle or someone else. Whoever comes in will get plenty of game-time over the next season.

Either way, signing Tierney doesn't mean we won't get a LB to properly compete with him next season, as poor as we are when it comes to recruitment, we won't go into the next season with 1 fit LB, with that LB being Kieran Tierney of all people

Anyone who isn’t delighted with this news seriously needs their heads checked, we’ll be getting him back for next to nothing after selling him for 25m and he’ll be coming back a better player than he was before. Sure he’s injury prone but it’ll be a free transfer and when he’s at his best he would be by far the best player in the league.
