I was frustrated with Kyogo last night to be honest mate. The first few minutes summed it up. He dropped deep, picked up the ball, turned and then fresh aired a pass. Had a simple ball out wide to Kuhn in the first half after a similar move and tried to turn and lost it. Second half he wasn’t showing at all. Idah come on and done more with one run when he beat the boy up the line and then won a corner after the cross was blocked.

There are plenty times when he makes fantastic runs that aren’t seen. Last night I can’t really remember any when I felt he could have been played in. Maybe the one from the quick free kick when Hatate tried to play it over the top when Kyogo peeled away from the defender, but that’s about it.

Probably the quietest he's been against them

Still , he's more than earned one quiet game against them, considering he's tortured then in almost every other game

He missed an absolute sitter, being fair it was a great save from Butland but he should have gave him no chance. A wee lift on his finish and it’s a certain goal but he is about 3 yards out. It worked out fine as we scored off the corner.

Was a decent stop to be fair. He has missed about a dozen sitters this season-and all the same type of finishes, along the deck, needs to start lifting the ball.

I agree it was a good save but from there you have to score.

Having a strange season. Been a noticeable decline in his output since Rodgers returned.

Can see this being his last season here.

He was quiet in attack but I’ve watched it back and the sheer amount of times he wins the ball at the corner or stops a rangers attack. He does so much work off the ball

Think he's been very poor this season following a decent pre season. Form fell off a cliff after the man city speculation. If there was an offer there in January I'd probably let him off.. we need to start looking towards potential cl qualifiers next summer

He must be well jarred off with his teammates not picking out his runs, he is forever running in behind but never gets played in. Saying that, he has missed a shitload of sitters this season

Anyone who says he's been too quiet recently hasn’t got a * clue.

Think of it like a conversation, if you're speaking and speaking but no * is listening, you canny be accused of being quiet.

He's making run after run when we're probing on the attack. Problem is we don't have enough players with the * baws to play him in, possibly in fear of losing the ball in this "possession is everything" style. To get the best out of Kyogo, you need the players ready to take risks. You need players willing to play through those lines instead of constantly just playing the safe 5-yard option to the wingers or full-backs.

Counted twice in the League Cup final where a Kuhn square ball would've led to Kyogo goals. Could've easily had a brace if his team-mates were smarter and spotted him.

This isn't happening as much as it was under Ange. Kyogo hasn't become a poorer player or even produced poorer performances. We're just not feeding those runs anywhere near as much as we did.

It's not even just a Kyogo problem. Kuhn has been treated the same at times - ready for the ball to be played in behind only for his run to be completely misses/overlooked.

It's frustrating as * for those of us who actually notice these things. Can only imagine how Kyogo is feeling. I'm reluctant to kick BR in the balls here but it's entirely his tactics. We have a striker with a specific skill set, and yet we don't lean into it.

From Kyogo's perspective Matt O'Riley hasn't been properly replaced...

    https://www.celticfc.com/news/2024/june/27/matt-o-riley-speaks-exclusively-in-the-new-celtic-view/

"With 38 goals between them, you can bet that a few of those 18 assists by O’Riley led to Kyogo goals, and the midfielder is delighted with his relationship with the Japanese striker.

He told the latest edition of the Celtic View: “It’s very good, both on and off the pitch, I find him really easy to play with because his movement is so good.

“I think that he trusts that I’m always going to look to play in the ball, because I try to look forward as much as possible, so right from my first season here right up to now, we’ve had a really good relationship.

“I don’t know what the number is, but I’m sure a lot of my assists have come for him.”

He was quiet apart from the near post effort and the volley. There was very little for him to work with though, maybe partly because of the conditions.

    This.

Another robust striker is needed, because Kyogo is having a poor season and missing too many sitters and will be 30 soon.

Might be time for him moving on too.
