Fully agree. I’m 36, so I don’t remember big Roy, Paul Elliott, et al. To me, in terms of the basics of defending, coupled with reliability and focus, VVD, Mjallby and Kelvin Wilson were the top 3 for me, prior to CCV coming in. He has eclipsed (or is eclipsing) all of those in their time with us.

He’s just a top, top defender. Look at where he had to come from to even get into the situation where he was 4 on 1 against them, let alone having the composure and technique to make that block - it’s unreal.

 

Carter-Vickers has played 114 games for us domestically now and only lost 4 of them, 1 in 2021, 1 in 2022, 1 in 2023 and 1 in 2024.

Who can name the games? he's lost twice to 1 club and it's not the huns and another of the losses was to a club no longer in the League.

Aye, first 45mins he just seemed to be a yard off it and a bit slow with everything, possibly to do with the lack of options in the middle tho but whatever Brendan done at half time seemed to sort that out and give us more of an avenue through the middle which helped out our defence in getting the ball away much quicker.

See being fair that guy Henry Jnr reporting it is normally spot on when it comes to CCV. He has been watched by some very decent sides like Atalanta and Galatasaray in the recent past. Leverkusen are losing Johnathan Tah, I could see it being true.

I don’t think we will sell in January but come the summer it wouldn’t surprise me if CCV wanted to explore his options that will be 4 seasons he has been here by then.
