Said all day I would be tempted to start McCowan over him. Hatate is consistently inconsistent and has been largely off it for a few games now. I could be tempted to go with McCowan over him on Sunday as well

Think that book must be on a different thread. Most consistent but of his performance tonight is everyone thought it was bad* (*or worse than bad).

Unacceptable on every level. He will probably be MOTM on Sunday and we know what he is capable of. But we also know he will always be inconsistent and I think it's time we move him on in January and invest in some serious CM quality .

How can Celtic improve in Europe when you have players that are just as likely to be utter * than they are to be very good. Can’t be relied upon to put in a performance and has shown signs of a bad attitude. Hes said several times it his dream to play in England, well * let him go. If he doesn’t improve his attitude he won’t last long as first team starter down there, just look at poor old Odsonne Edouard.

    * tonight, and he was a moany * too, the amount of times I seen him moaning at teammates tonight. Funniest thing about it was he was the worst player on the park by a * mile....

    He’s a man down.

One or two moments of creativity doesn’t excuse the twenty times he’s gifting the ball away for no reason.

We’ll get away with it domestically, mostly. He simply can’t keep giving the ball away so cheaply and be playing in our midfield.

I was critical of the way he played in the sense that he’d go for the killer ball at all times, regardless of the situation in the game.

Now he’s over and under hitting 6 yard passes. I’d be more comfortable with him shielding the ball for 15 seconds until he’s fouled.

    A very tough watch.

Thought he was masterful at breaking down dangerous looking attacks.

Unfortunately it was ours he was breaking down.

I've been frustrated with him for a while. Last night it was at the point where I was wincing every time he even received a ball. He reminds me a lot of Rogic - some moments of absolute sublime skill but can go missing for huge spells. Looking at the rest of the midfield - Calmac, Engels, McGowan, Bernardo. Sorry but Hatate must go lower in the pecking order

No, he wasn't good at it last night. But he tried to get it forward, bring Kyogo in to it. Get us 10 yards further forward. Unlike our captain, who was weak and negative and looking like he was there for a point all along.

So aye, fair criticism for Reo, as he was poor, but some of the criticism is a bit far. Others were woefully as bad.

Nobody gave the ball away even half the amount of times he did last night. He did the same against Brugge and was lucky his terrible pass didn't cost us because the goal was offside. He did the exact same pass again 2 minutes later. When he loses possession that often we never win the game.

He could have done what McGregor done most of the night and passed it sideways or backward and kept possession. His stats would have looked good then, but he still wouldn’t be having a positive impact. Bernardo was the same. Done nothing going forward all night either. Kuhn, Kyogo and Maeda totally killed us last night in my opinion. Which is really unlike them, but I felt they were static all night.

Rogic is the players he’s reminded me of in Europe for a while. Not necessarily in terms of style, but in terms of being so inconsistent. The comparison actually feels harsh on Rogic just now.

You can tell with Hatate if he’s going to be on his game within the first 20 minutes, imo. Even if he’s not he’s often worth persisting with domestically because he might still be able to pull off a moment of brilliance to unlock a packed defence, but in Europe when he’s playing like that, he’s worse than being a man down. Just constantly loses possession cheaply, gets caught out of position, and doesn’t contribute enough defensively.

This is the Hatate thread and he has been brutal for months/years with the exception of a game here and there. Can’t string more than 2 decent games together. I’d empty him in January if someone would take him but it’s highly unlikely anyone would want such an inconsistent player.

I would quite like to see him gone in the window. He's not offering anything more than Bernardo, McCowan and Engels, all of whom have more scope to develop. No sense in bringing in Miller either unless someone's shipping out. If anyone will put in a bid for a few mil, I'd take the hand off them.

For the avoidance of doubt, are you saying Bernardo was the same as Hatate last night? :52:

He was infuriating last night. I think the frustration from fans is we know how good he can be.
The way he strolls around though isn't a good look. He's been moaning a lot more recently as well which does my head in. Just looks like he thinks he's better than what he is. I'm not in the boat of get rid in Jan but he does need to buck his ideas up if we wants that move to the premier league.
