I'd be bringing someone in to replace Nawrocki and Welsh.

Another young project type. Seeing as the last two failed.

Celtic have set their sights on signing Brondby IF forward Mathias Kvistgaarden in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Celtic scouts are continuing to “keep tabs” on the 22-year-old
    .

    .
The striker himself has suggested that he would be interested in a move away to a new league for a fresh challenge, and the Hoops are long-term admirers of him.

The striker has scored 13 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions this season which has seen him gain plenty of admirers around Europe.

    .

If a deal isn’t possible in January then the Scottish giants are prepared to be patient and look at seeing if he could be signed next summer.

It is believed that Brendan Rodgers has a strong enough squad to compete on all fronts if there are no injuries between now and the end of the season, but further strength in depth is something he’s looking to secure.

13 goals and 5 assists in 20 matches so far this season.

He has mostly played at CF for Brondby this season but can play on either side of the wing and did play LW earlier in the season.

If he's coming in, he'd be coming in as our LW option imo, Kyogo and Idah at ST and I don't see either leaving anytime soon.

This would be the perfect signing for us to get done. This one signing would see our fronts 3 positions well and truly covered depth-wise.

We've already shown we're willing to spend big money on the right player and he most certainly is. Fingers crossed we can pull it out the bag.

Fine, I'll accept this lad for a year or two while we wait for Jota to return after his UK-Saudi tax issues :56:

Not while we have one left-footed player in the entire attack, imo. Need left-footed competition for Kühn’s position, or it risks the entire balance on which a lot of our chance creation is built as soon as Kühn is subbed or injured.

Not saying someone like this shouldn’t come in to compete with Maeda on the other wing, though.

I don't think we need another utility forward player.

Would far rather we went back in for the Royal Antwerp left winger Michel Ange-Balikwisha as competition and cover for Maeda, and keep Yang as an option to Kuhn and Forrest.

I take your point but it's not a big issue for me. By all accounts this boy can play RW so if he's effective there as a right footer then it's a win regardless.

I'd go all out for this boy..

If it's over 10 mill, do it. His numbers would be crazy in a side like ours. Can tell he wouldn't take long to settle either..

He is the Kyogo replacement, who is probably away next Summer.

Bring him in Jan, let him play as an understudy until Summer with Idah as a reliable backup.

January would be the best time for us as a proposition for a player ( who will have plenty of offers/interest) as we will be able to offer them knockout CL football and our stock is pretty high in Europe currently .

They won't sell in summer that's right middle of their season. If we can get this guy it's January or nothing for me.

    £10M plus for Kvistgaarden.?
    Get a grip.

We could get Michel Ange-Balikwisha for £3M I'm sure, and he can play left wing and the forward position.
We got Kyogo, Idah and Summers as possible back up for striker.

    £10M plus :giggle2: Not a chance.

Summers isn’t a striker. Balikwisha hasn’t played since the start of the season, not a chance we will or should go for him in Jan.

It’s not the Danish season runs from July/ August, then stops early/ mid December, starts back in February and ends at start of June (or end of May).

My only concern with Kvistgaarden has been injuries. He has missed a few games this year and missed the end of the season last year. I don’t think these have been major, apart from possibly the one at the end of last season.

In terms of positions he has played this year. Brondby typically play a 3-4-2-1 shape. Kvistgaarden’s minutes have been split between playing as the centre forward, whilst their bigger physical striker wasn’t available and as on of the almost inside forwards they play just off the big striker. He seems to be effective in both roles.

For Denmark U21’s he typically plays as the left of a front 3, in the same formation as we play and again has been effective.

Throughout his senior career he has played right across the front end of the pitch. He’s played on both wings, as an inside forward on either side, upfront in a front two and as the main striker up top himself.

Balikwisha, I liked the look of but as has been mentioned he has been crocked all season and they are looking for at least €6.5m for him. So yes he is cheaper than Kvistgaarden but big question marks about his fitness just now.

I actually think if we could add a versatile forward like Kvistgaarden and sort out the left back position more for the summer, we would be in a strong position for the rest of the season.

The other player that would add something is a defensive versatile type that could cover at least two of CB, RB and DCM. Given the limitation on Euro squad numbers someone that could cover at least two of those would be a good pick up.

Really want him, much more than Balikwisha who has been crocked all season. Have liked the look of this lad ever since he was first linked and he seems to have added consistent output since then. Quick, hard-working, tenacious and good at getting his shots away. Also looks surpsingly decent in the air given his diminutive stature.
