I'll watch some of the first half back but thought we really struggled in general getting the ball out and particularly that side.

He actually got back to make the block aswell after his mistake which I thought showed great determination. I really like Scales and think he’s been great for us but I do think Trusty has come in and looked better all round. Harsh on Scales but credit to Trusty

Probably feels hard done by cause he didn’t really put a foot wrong for 18 months, and for parts of last season carried the back 4 but it’s a harsh reminder of why it’s important that we’re always looking to improve because if we’re being honest Trusty looks a big upgrade in the short time he’s been here.

He’ll still get plenty of game time this season so it’s vital he keeps himself fit and is ready when called upon because I’d imagine CCV will be rotated when the opportunity allows especially with the amount of matches we have between now and the international break.

What he does provide is genuine competition, and Rodgers knows he can be trusted upon to come in and do a job when selected which can’t really be said of any of the other centre halves at the club. Really does ease the pressure on the other 2 which is vital really when you play the amount of games we do.

MoTM for me. Passing out from the back was excellent and first goal a peach.

Great header for the goal and good assist for McCowan's goal.

It's great to have 3 CB's that can be relied upon. He's not let us down this season when played.

Just seems better on the ball than Trusty.

Imagine starting a back three of Trusty, Scales and CCV with Schmeichael behind them, clean sheets every week, teams in the Champions League would find getting past that defence and keeper extremely difficult

I was just thinking that today for the first time, and I would be for it.
Neither of the three deserve to be dropped, and all three deserve to play.

But where would we play Johnston ?

    That makes sense.
Now we just got to work on Rodgers to occasionally change his beloved 4-3-3 for certain games :giggle1:
    That won't be easy.

Maybe even slot big Scales in at left back sometime too.
Waiting for the chorus " He's too slow at LB " :giggle1:

Hatate would have to be sacrificed, fine by me tbh, that team does serious damage and is going to be extremely difficult to score against

We're lucky to have him, to think he was almost oot the door to Aberdeen if not for some injuries to our defence. Love the big fella, bit like McCowan.. gives his all every game.

Mad position that we’ve ended up with 3 CB’s for two positions all of whom absolutely deserve to be playing and first choice.an incredible fortuitous place to be but difficult juggling act to manoeuvre

The good thing with Scales specifically, is you know if he's left out from time to time it won't effect him.. his attitude has been class as well as his play..

If Scales had Martin O'Neill as manager he'd be playing every week in the system Martin deployed here

Move Maeda at LWB instead of Valle and start Idah up front alongside Kyogo.

Alternatively, start Kuhn and Maeda at their usual wing positions transitioning from 4-3-3 to 3-4-3. We can even start Engels at RWB moving Johnston at right centre half. I believe Engels has played at RB and RM for Augsburg. A new position should spice things up for him given he's underperforming at CM.
