For a long while I said Kevin Bridges was my favourite, his jokes really resonate with me I think because we are around the same age. I love his stories about when he was younger. I think he cant be beaten. Recently though I've been watching Jimmy Carr, he's got to be the best at getting the audience involved. I don't usually go to shows but have booked tickets to see him with my girlfriend.
Who's the best in your opinion and even post some obscure ones if you like.

Kevin Bridges works as he just comes across as your normal guy, down to earth, someone you'd happily sit and have a pint with. Which means you end up relating to a lot of his stuff.

I think Carr comes across as a smarmy *. He's not the only comedian like that.

I enjoy Billy Connolly and his humour ages really well because his skill is telling it rather than the actual joke being particularly good. He draws you in by changing his tone, using body and facial language.

Three giants of comedy, as a youth I was lucky enough to have an in-law with loads of Connelly albums, I'll forever remember listening to 'The Crucifixion', 'Ivan the Terrible' etc

I probably thought the same about Jimmy Carr at first just based on his mannerisms and style of comedy. But more recently I’ve appreciated his jokes a lot more. He’s not up his own *, he can take a joke and even asks the audience if they have any heckles for him. Top comedian in my opinion and a really clever guy.
He talks about comedy being all about pattern recognition and I found that quite interesting.

Can see why folk find Carr that way.
He can be an acquired taste for sure.
But more and more over the last 5-10 years I think more folk can relate with his outlook (well At least that of his jokes) as he's a bit like Ricky Gervais in not going to tiptoe around some of the topics and social issues that plague society.
He will poke fun when needed.

Really not a fan of Mcintyre. He's in the same bracket as Lee Evens but much worse. Its all over animated which seems to compensate for bad humour. The misses loves that kind of stuff though and she'd be howling watching them pace up and down the stage doing impressions.

For smarmy * I would say Mark Lemar or even Bill Bailey seems like a genuinely stuck up guy to me for some reason. With Carr I can see it as him portraying a posh character or exaggerating his poshness as more of an act.
But with others I can genuinely sense that they have something about them which indicates they would be a bit of a * in real life.
