Yeah but when people like myself we're airing their concerns about Taylor starting it's because we don't like the guy and have it in for him.

Nah, it's cause Valle has been great when he's played and Taylor for years has been exposed at this level.

Valle made a massive difference when he came on. Taylor just isn’t aggressive enough. There was a point in the first half when the boy had the ball not far off the half way line, and Taylor backed off and back off and the boy is nearly in our box with the ball. He needed to go and engage with him. Valle just looks streets ahead, especially at that level in Europe.

Honestly looked terrified of Olsen last night. Why did he keep backing off him?

That’s his defending style, he sits super narrow and attached to the LCB and just hopes to crowd the winger out rather than be proactive and stop the attack.

Valle definitely made an impact, much more positive..

Taylor was excellent v Leipzig but poor last night.. but I honestly thought our whole midfield were much worse.. Engels, Hatate & McGregor were chasing shadows.. when you lose the midfield battle, it's tough for everyone..

We were lucky to get a point..

We need to address the LB situation in Jan. As Valle won't be a permanent deal and we need to plan for the Champions League Qualifier..

    Valle should start v County.

Taylor wasn't good last night, no doubt about it. But the way we played last night, particularly first half, allowing them to break through our high press easily must have been a nightmare for our whole defence. Taylor got exposed one on one a few times because of that I think and probably did the right thing not diving in.

When Valle came on the game was changing. I felt they were tiring a bit and losing their intensity, spaces were opening up and we were coming into it a lot more. Valle did really well but it was a bit easier when he came on.

Agree about the midfield. But you have to credit Brugge, I thought they were excellent first half but couldn't keep the intensity going 2nd half.

Probably a draw was the right result.

Reminded me of Lee Naylor in Europe 06/07 season, woeful and clearly a weak link

He's usually calm on the ball but I noticed he did bottle it a bit.

There was a few times he was telling Trusty or Schmeichel not to pass to him, at least 3 times in the first half I remember him with his hands up like "don't give it to me" or pointing right and we did give him it then he'd dancing about trying to give it back to them.

We knew we were in trouble at the back as we couldn't get the ball out and he was trying to sneak out of it by telling us to get the ball over the other side but nothing was happening there either.

You canny just step out of the game like "stop giving it to me I can't get doing anything, keep it away from me". Should have tried to become more clever and sharper to dig us out a hole instead of just thinking we were *.

I think thats why Schemichel came out and got players into a group after the goal, as you could see Taylor for sure wasn't wanting the ball and even McGregor, Johnston everyone was just passing it back and to the side all the time. Players were spooked and struggling thinking we canny get ourselves in the game.

Because he cannot defend and it was a total mismatch, he was stronger, faster, more skilful than Taylor and essentially better in every way imaginable. He probably looked terrified because he was.

How anyone still thinks Taylor is the required level we need to move forward in Europe is beyond me.

Lost my voice after he lost a tackle when the boy was effectively balancing on one leg … has a lot of positives domestically, but against that opposition we need better.

An AJ type on the left would take us up a few levels … as would another option on the wing.

He did that more than once. Just let his man into the box for a shot, infuriating.

He just doesn't have the athleticism required for a European level. He's like a child out there. Valle has the pace and strength to actually drive into spaces with the ball, whilst providing just as good or even better technical ability.

It’s not a case of diving in. But you cannot allow the man to carry the ball 40/50 yards unchallenged, which he did. It’s just inviting pressure because then all of a sudden the player is in the box and a mistimed tackle then leads to a penalty. Valle just looks far more suited to that level of football. Like he did in Atalanta.

I also wonder why the * he is always "guarding" a guy who's a big fecking giant compared to him at corners. That's obviously not his fault but ffs have him guarding a post or something. There was one instance in the 2nd half last night when he made a pathetic attempt to head the ball from a cross which luckily Brugge didn't capitalise on. Really need an upgrade

Been groundhog day in here for years pretty much, nothing has changed, he's good enough domestically and basically becomes an extra CM for us at times when we've got teams pegged back which is extremely useful, but generally (though he has put in some really good performances) he's just not got the right attributes to play a proper LB role at this level, Valle looks a much better fit and didn't warrant dropping.

He was isolated a few times one on one with someone rapid quick. The choice is back off and hopefully a team mate gets back to help, or put the challenge in risking the boy skinning him leading to big chances. Him being in that position was down to brugge being good and our high press being ineffective imo.

I'm not disagreeing that Taylor was poor, cause he was, but he wasn't the only one.

Valle came on and looked excellent I thought but the game was changing by then and there was more space.
