Tbh we're selling out a lot of our home games.

We'd make the money back easily within 6 seasons.

    Easy mate. Absolute no brainer.

It would look * class as well.

The board are no daft, they'd have sponsors in place, they'd argue for more TV money, think of the champions league games at home with away 80,000 fans.

The whole world would want to see that.

At 100m it would be financed and paid off over time
Probs sell naming right to cater for half of the money like arsenal did with the emirates

Even with me always saying Parkhead for the stadium rather than Celtic Park, and for a long time thinking it doesn’t matter the official name punt the stadium name.

Nowadays I really don’t want that at all. Imagine us being something like the betfred stadium, makes my skin crawl

Been reading a few articles recently where a figure of 80M being quoted for the redevelopment on the stand.
Stadium renaming as a source of funding.
That 80M will likely be 90M this time next year.
Would like to see a plan put in place, as something needs to be done soon.
Maybe hear something at AGM next week???

Just reading back my previous post trying to math it out a little, I had it at 100m and could realistically pay itself back in 7 years.

But if it's a fifth less than I thought, then you really could have it paid off within 5 years.

The additional season ticket sales, the additional UCL ticket sales, the additional match day revenue.

If you're adding another tier to match it off to the rest of the stadium, then you've also got additional space within the stand itself, additional revenue in museum or restaurants or game zone or something.

I don't see why we couldn't do it so it pays for itself quickly.

Maybe though, this is why we are stock piling money?

70,000 seater stadium at minimum for me. Maybe 80,000 if we’re wanting to be proactive for the future.

has there been any investigation into what can physically be achieved without knocking down the current stadium? Now there’s also the technology to re-develop without shutting the stadium down too

Would jack the price up a bit though. I suspect we would be moving to Hampden for a few years because 1. Keep the price down of the build and 2. To give season ticket holders protection.

Crystal Palace are building a new 13,500 seat main stand. It's currently sitting at a minimum price of £150 million and the club is looking for maybe another £45 million to get it all done. To get to the 80,000 mark we would need to clone the north stand (27,000) and we would be adding all the internals that go with a top main stand.

The price is going to be a long way over £100 million in today's world. The work needs done sooner or later but what ever price is being quoted we can probably treble.

I used to think what matter if its officially called the Macaroni pie stadium as to us it would always be Parkhead or at worst Celtic Park but you are right hearing/Reading its called something like that is horrendous, then again some actually call it Parkers now.

As for increasing the capacity I’m not so sure on that, see a period under RD, although we do need to redevelop the stadium. Only other thing is those getting the * packets out to develop a plan should probably also factor in Interest payments on top of capital repayments in their grand plan… as no * is giving us 80/100 million interest free.

The main stand needs upgraded, extra season tickets would more or less fill it.. the stadium also needs a touch up of paint.

100% I would be increasing the capacity. I don’t even care if it’s not full every game.

They also need to upgrade facilities when they do it.

Mortgage the cost over a number of years.

Unless your a season ticket holder its very hard to get tickets to watch Celtic, unless its a midweek game or early cup fixture.. the Ross Co game sold out in less than an hour when it was put on general sale.

Is talk of stadium improvement/redevelopment just fan chat? Or are the club actually looking at upgrading the ground in some way?

Must be fan chat. Pistol Pete already came out last season and said it would cost 10s of millions to redevelop the main stand.

Personally, I say there is absolutely no need to be "redeveloping" anything in terms of adding to the size of the stadium, certainly not now anyway. Refine what we already have and upgrade bits and bobs at a time.

Celtic Park is perfect anyway, well...almost!
