Yeah Ange is never going to be pragmatic, I think we are getting a beautiful mix of the two men right now.

That game against Leipzig has announced our arrival on the European stage much like Ange’s night game v Rangers in his first season announced we were back to win the league.

Totally agree with all that. It started with Ange….and has matured with Rodgers.

Ange’s gung ho no defence style is being found out in the prem and Rodgers seems to have finally decided to make sure we are solid at the back.

Actually, I really like the way you put that, “it has matured with Rodgers” is a perfect description.

    Can't argue with that.

Deila as well, set things up nicely for Rodgers to come in

That's not to take anything away from Rodgers or at all meant negative. Just that their styles was similar, formations etc, but little tweaks and things got taken up a level.

Same now with Ange, as said, he laid the ground work and got us on a good track, Rodgers comes in and does his magic now. Benefits from both but at the same time takes it up a level that neither deila or Ange could ever have done.

For me, as much as we all hate how Rodgers left the first time, Rodgers is the best manager I've seen at the club in my life time.

Ange is third best, behind saint Martin.

Its an interesting point. Liverpool Leicester and us. He's come in and inherited a good base and decent players. Has he ever went to a club and had to rebuild the team from scratch. I don't know much about his time at Swansea other than he did a decent enough job to get the Liverpool job.

So….taking all that in to account. Would you say the Peter lawell, dermot Desmond, everyone at the top etc. have done a great job of keeping things rolling?

Within reason, they've done well enough at times when it comes to managers, yeah.
Lennon the first time was fine, but the second time was madness on all parts.
Rodgers first time was a Desmond project, which naturally worked out and again does now. But it's signs that they aren't all always pulling in the correct and/or same direction at board level.
The appointment of Strachan was obviously good. But who signed off on Mowbray needs slapped.
Deila I personally like, but we can't ignore the * show that was that entire saga leading to his appointment. The fact we tried to thrust him as an assistant to Roy Kean was absurd, but is one of many signs of board playing FM with the club too much. The fact he was also seen initially as an assistant then suddenly in the main hot seat was also a joke of a saga, albeit I do think he is a good manager and done relatively well here.

They (board) have also hamstrung pretty much every single manager at some stage since theyve all formed as a collective in the early 2000s.

I was at Millwall Swansea the year BRs Swansea went up. Millwall were going for a playoff position and Swansea for promotion, Swansea played great football and won 4-1? All the Millwall fans around me were saying Swansea played great. Didn't BR build that team?

    Arguably.
Certainly took over some good sides, but all three clubs mentioned, he's then went on to better the sides and build on them. Okay not a full rebuild, but work still done.
Took Liverpool to an inch of the title, a great domestic season that was the closest in a long long time for them.
First time with us, took guys like Ajer Armstrong and turned him in to a class player, rejuvenated brown, went on to have an invincible season and set us up for a treble of trebles. He took that squad to the highest of domestic success that can't really be matched.
Leicester, had a brilliant season back in 15/16 was it to win the league, but they are generally a no mark club and not really an EPL level trophy winning club. He won them trophies when they really shouldn't have.

Back to us again, last season was shaky as the side adjusted to the changes, but this season is again to new heights and our European games so far look superb (Dortmund aside) and rightly he gets the credit for being pragmatic.

Yeah we know he's good at improving teams he's inherited but has he ever had to build.a squad the way Ange did in 2021.

I'm not convinced he would have pulled it off as well as Ange. And I do think he's a better manager than Ange before folk start having a go at me

Actually, that's a good point. Ange wins on that one.

Probably not, not from my knowledge.
    Don't see that negatively though.

As for what Ange done here in his first season, that was an insane turnaround and rebuild. I think the switch to Dom McKay then they uncertainty for a period certainly helped in Ange favour for the dramatic and fast nature of his influence in the rebuild. not sure if we had Peter Lawwell still at the time, would he have been allowed such freedom in the market and rebuild.

You saw the influence Ange had over things, then we saw how he had less as his second season went on.

I suppose it depends whether you mean as a manager per se or as Celtic manager.

Rodgers has a long way to go to match the achievements at Celtic of Strachan let alone MON. But as a manager per se, I don't see how there can be any argument: Rodgers is clearly better than either of them. His achievements in England dwarf those of any other modern Celtic manager.

Strachan's big achievement was keeping a smaller team up consistently, O'Neil's was the same plus a league cup, Ange (so far) has a single 5th place finish. Rodgers has an FA Cup, league runners up and two 5th-place finishes (at a smaller club than Spurs).

I personally prefer Ange; but we're lucky to have Rodgers.
