Just in case the "we" is picked up the wrong way when i said we i meant as in Club not we as in board before I get any negative responses... or worse yet some business plan/guide to run a successful football club thats been basically drafted on the back of a * packet/comes from FM

 

He was probably working on the Spurs deal at that point tbh. He was in talks and doing interviews with them months before he left

 

Not sure if he regrets it tbh, IMO he was desperate to get to the EPL regardless of the soundbites he was giving out at the time such as, “you’ll be surprised by how long i’ll be here”.

Personally i think it was * of him to leave so soon as he was desperate to manage at a decent level in Europe and if it wasn’t for us, he’d likely still be managing in Asia.

I still want him to succeed but at the same time I wouldn’t have him back.

 

So you expected him to drop all planning with us, whilst he was under consideration at Spurs?

 

The planning was conducted under the impression that both parties were committed to continue working together for at least the following season as a minimum with a longer term contract being offered. It seems one party had little/no intention of that happening despite saying differently when asked.
So to answer your question, A/ I would expect there to have been no consideration at spurs at all. Or B/ At worst some good old fashioned honesty, from him, given he liked to go on about that kind of thing in a player etc.

 

If you go for a new job, do you tell your current employer that you're applying elsewhere, or do you get the job first and then hand your notice in (like everyone else)?

Ange was clearly working his ticket for the Spurs job, which would be hard to turn down. None of our players would turn that down for example. Players also do the same thing, get their agent to do their talks whilst still playing here and giving it the old "still a Celtic player, fully focused" rhetoric. O'Riley did that. Jota did that. My point is, it's normal. People don't sever relationships with their current employers whilst considering a new job, cause they might not get the job, they might not get the transfer.

I don't think Ange was desperate to leave us, he was desperate to have a crack at a team operating at the top-end of the worlds richest and most watched league. If it wasn't a team like Spurs, I think he would have been our manger last season, hence the continued planning etc.

I dont have a problem with how he left. Delivered a treble.

 

I don't think fans can demand much loyalty from football managers (or players) anymore when football is so cut throat.

If celtic hired Ange and he had a shocking few months we would be demanding he was fired before Xmas. Despite him uprooting his family, travelling from the other side of the world, etc. Same goes for players. It's just the way the game is nowadays.

When managers and players get it right, I don't think you can blame them for jumping when the timing suits them.

No I didn't (although I did once tbh but thats a different story)... but I wasn't in the processes of planning and creating an illusion that i was happy to do this planning and discussing a contract with the current employer that was months in the making. I also don't make it a thing to talk regularly about honesty commitment etc being a big thing and how that is an important trait to look for in a person.
So when you do all of that and then, as you say, work your ticket to just walk out/away you need to accept you'll look a bit of a *. When a player has done what he done then i think they are hypocrite * as well, so I'll be consistent in that.
From memory did O'Riley not do an interview saying he wanted to play at a higher level - I seem to have that in my head but that could be wrong but I get the point you made.

Oh a treble is never going to be bad but it didn't taste as good as it could/should have nor last as long.

Let’s be honest Ange likes to be a real smart * with the media. That is all very entertaining when you’re winning but I’d imagine it would become very annoying very fast if he wasn’t getting results.

 

Treble wasn't won when Rodgers left.

 

What about his first 2 trebles do they not count?

 

The fact that Rodgers is back and is (almost) everybody's favourite manager again shows that literally anything can happen in football.
Imagine suggesting after Ange’s first season that in a couple of years time we’d all prefer having Rodgers in charge

 

They definitely count, but not what I thought you were referring to, or what I thought was being discussed.

 

I'd rather have Ange. Ange and Rodgers are two incredible managers of a standard I'd never seen before at Celtic. However, there are certain managers I just have a real affection for: obviously Lenny and MON and to a lesser extent Ronny too (I almost put Mowbray there, but my affection there is more to do with his time as a player). Ange is right up there in that regard. Love the guy.

 

Ange was a great guy and brought us solid success, but surely Rodgers has to take top spot now with this years CL showing so far?? Never felt so positive about Europe since the Larsson days
