Don't really understand the crypto market and don't trust it - seems like a massive ponzi scheme to my simple brain.

The one thing that does interest me though is the constructive underlying value of bitcoin (and a couple of others). I understand that bitcoin is the main currency of the dark web. Drugs, *, weapons, ransomware etc keep bitcoin valuable.

    Erm... so they say.

Crypto reminds me of the episode on Still Game when Jack & Victor have a bit spare cash and end up buying shares in Chromotron UK. They have not a clue about stocks and shares or the company but throw some money at something they like the name of. Then the CEO jumps oot the window at the end of the episode. That’s basically my experience of Cryptocurrency.

0.05 is now worth close to £3,000 @mickey95 if you are still here. Might be worth trying to remember that password.

Very much a latecomer, but bought some BTC a couple of months back and planning on holding it for a few years at the very least. Been topping it up by €10 every week too.

Hopefully I can bump this thread in a decade with some good news :56:

Some small, very small, gains. But finally my portfolio is looking I'm the positive.
That's something new for the last few years.

Bitcoin is mental price just now as well, whole market moving nicely.
I wonder if this is the true start of the bull run we are waiting on, or just a good rally on the back of Trump being elected and Elon being Elon.

Plenty predicted November as a big month to start things rolling.

My hope is sometime within the next 12 months and this bull run, I can take out a small portion to pay off the car and small bills. Then let the rest rise for the next 3-5-10 years.

    Good stuff man.

I’m pretty new to it all. Decided a few months back I was going to use bitcoin as a long term saving tool/investment but the way the market is atm has tempted me to try and make some quick gains.

I'd reckon quicker and bigger gains will be made in the smaller coin/valued ones

But then they are bigger risks.

Bitcoin is likely to get over 100k and up to wards 150k in the next 12 months, so you'd near double your money in theory (going by the dollar value here), if you got in a few months ago.

But coins like XRP (my main hold) are far more risky at the moment and potential big gains are a few years away.
However, if XRP even just hits a new ATH in the next 12 months/bull run, then you're talking gains of x5 or more.

Please don't use Bitcoin as a long term saving tool. Treat it like going to the casino. By all means buy some and trade it for fun but it isn't not for long term savings in any way whatsoever. It's a pure punt.

Yeah I do realise there is some risk to it, should have probably said it’s not where I’m putting all of my savings - just a small percentage of it and an amount I could potentially afford to lose.

:56: I bought ages ago. Never buy now when it's the highest it's been imo.

Itll always go lower. Always does. It'll start going high now. Loads of new guys will hear about it. Buy stuff, bump it higher.. then the original investors get out and take the money with them leaving all the new guys with the loss.
