We really should be getting top dollar in our next deal.

If we go far in Europe, it's a good thing on so many levels, including merchandise and advertising partnership deals.

 

1 qualifying round? If that's the case and we're seeded then that's superb..

Gives us a decent enough break and you'd fancy us with the quality we have now to progress..

 

Yeah it’s only one round, I didn’t know we would be seeded I thought that would be down to who else is in the champions path and their coefficient?

If it is the same format as this year there are 10 teams make the play off round, the draw was the first week in August and ties played the last two weeks of August so we will have had 3 or 4 domestic fixtures in by the games and it won’t impact preseason so win the league and we are still free to take part in a US tour again or the equivalent.

Next years league coefficient will be based on the end of last years standings so in order you will have league winners from

Scotland, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Norway, Denmark, Ukraine, Israel, Serbia, Croatia, Sweden etc in the mix.

I think it is Scotland, Switzerland, Austria and Norway who have their champions only playing one qualifier. To be seeded we would need a higher rank than 5 other qualifiers who make the playoff. Although the draw maybe made before that is known who the team is so essentially we would need to be in the top 5 of any team that make the second or third round.

Likely teams

Austria - Sturm Graz or Red Bull Salzburg
Switzerland - it’s pretty open the now but Young Boys are far back just now.
Ukraine - Dynamo Kiev or Shakhtar
Norway - Bodo/Glimt or Brann
Sweden - Malmo*
Denmark - could be one of 5 teams
Greece - usual suspects AEK, Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, PAOK, Aris L (surprise package)
Croatia - Hadjuk Split or Dinamo Zagreb
Serbia - Red Star

The top ranked team in qualifiers will get automatic route in if the winners of the CL have already qualified via their league. We would need Zagreb, Salzburg and Shakhtar to fail to win their league and us to have a really good season in Europe this year to have a chance at that.

I don't think seeding would be guaranteed, likely, but often you have teams that have collected points through the qualifiers and through Europa League and conference league. We've had no qualification for 3 years now and I think it's dented our club coefficient.

 

Key is we hold our big guns over summer and only sell (if we sell) after the qualifiers.
