That's good for him, he probably won't play much but it helps him remain settled here if he's making the squads.

Seems to link it a lot better in Europe than domestically, obviously the caveat being he isn’t trying to escape 6 big ugly centre halves in Europe so comes short more.

Just wish he’d battered that ball from Reo in behind in the top corner rather than looking for Daizen. Would have been one of my favourite goals ever.

That the first time all three of our Japanese legends have been called up together?

Really glad he's been called up, although it's annoying for us I don't want him looking else where because he's not in the national team.

Good point be this. I also think our champions league victories must have helped.

Pivotal player, sublime skill to beat two men in the first half only to be denied by a world class block

This will be a massive boost for him. Think he really doubted his chances with Japan long term and was only picked if it was absolutely necessary.

I just find it baffling how Kyogo was some times not even selected in the squad, while Maeda and Hatate never seemed to miss out.

All three are quality on their game.
But Kyogo is the only one with the consistency and proof he can do it out the three of them.

    Yet regularly overlooked.

Good for him now though, hope he takes his chance and the manager realises what talent he has.

I’m sure their manager done an interview saying he doesn’t work for the team and a selfish player as an explanation for not calling him up Ange’s 2nd season. I’ve always thought must be a translation error, because we know that manager watches us, and calls up Maeda as a priority and Hatate usually, he got to the Asian Cup with a couple games under his belt after being injured for most games that season.

So it’s not us, he watches us, he just doesn’t rate Kyogo. Somehow watches him thinks he doesn’t close down work hard or is a team player. In short, guys done good with Japan but is a * idiot

I don't see how he watches our games and thinks kyogo doesn't work for the team.
He's forever dropping deep to help out then reads the line well.
Him and Maeda complement each other. Along with Hatate.

Baffles me. If we just had one Japanese player I could understand he doesn't fit. But we literally have two attacking minded players along with Kyogo and they all work brilliantly together.

I’m sure it’s a translation thing that interview, because it’s just wrong, so far wrong it needs another explanation. Because Kyogo is the hardest working striker I’ve seen for us along with Henrik. It’s not just they pressed, its how hard they work (and to be clear, Kyogo is nowhere near the player Henke was but as hard workers), both of them constantly moved, made runs, on their toes, would make a run knowing the ball won’t come to them but that run needs covered. Just constant moving, for the chance to score but also to make room for other teammates. And that interview about Kyogo was under Ange where it was more prominent, he would touch the ball 4 times and score two. But the rest of the time hed be causing * chaos, knowing 9 times out of 10 he wouldn’t be getting the pass. You can’t possibly be a football manager, a decent one as well, and describe Kyogo like that.

Especially when it’s clear how much he admires Maeda, whos biggest attributes are those aspects, Kyogo is Maeda with the insane mind boggling work rate toned down slightly, but with the erratic technique of Maeda replaced with a great but slightly erratic technique

Looked so much sharper than Idah when he came on. Really want him to get back to scoring more consistently.

Could see how desperate he was for a goal there but we look a far better side with Kyogo in it.

Don't think there's any debate now about who starts the big games. Big Idah has a lot to do to even be in the conversation again, even with Kyogo not scoring the amount he should be.

    Wee man is looking sharp.

His movement caused them problems and created space/gaps.
But another sitter missed, straight at keeper, a worrying trend this season.

I'm not that worried about him not scoring as much as he should be. Other parts of his game have improved this season so hopefully the goals will come with that and they will in buckets i hope..
