This is why I never understood the boards contempt for this competition. One win and 3 million bagged, serious cash for us.

I'm pretty sure that was a positive article meaning that we're actually richer than we appear.

I wonder how much money we make from Japan, like that Maeda goal, Kyogo to Hatate to Maeda for the goal in the Champions League. Must make the news and that over there and bring a lot of attention and its a big country that are football daft.

Probably sold 1,000 tops off the back of that one goal.

Not to mention the higher payments for being higher in the coefficient table these days

    It's 2.1 ' million euros for a win
700 thousand euros for a draw

Given we are in an international break I had a little look at how our excellent start to the season on the park could translate to our company performance.

Granted there are a number of assumptions in there which include

    - we win the league
    - we win/ or reach the later rounds of the Scottish cup.
    - I have 4 scenarios for European commercial/ prize money A-D.
    - our profit on player sales will be around £23m as Matt O’Riley will have had less than £1m to amortise and Johnston, Kelly, Vata would have all been profit given they were academy players. The others I have counted as we sold at around what we paid for them and therefore any gain would have been insignificant.
    - Total player sales before add ons in the summer was £38m
    - Our Euro ticket sales were worth between £11-13m depending if we get a playoff or last 16 game.
    - Euro income without ticket sales will be between (D) £33m (where we are just now) and (A) £53m if we get a top 8 place in the table or win our play off tie and get to last 16. Get to playoff in 15th place but lose the playoff we would get (B) £41m or come in 24th and get put out of playoff (C) £36m.
    - other commercial revenue and merchandise sales remains steady at close to what they were last year.
    - Season ticket sales and matchday income beyond Europe at least match this year. Should be safe as we are already guaranteed the same number of home games domestically due to early league cup exit last year.
    - we get at least £3m in financial income (less than last year due to interest rate drops but we have a higher balance).

All scenarios would see a record revenue achieved between £130.3m to £152.3m depending on the European scenario between A-D mentioned above.

The total money into the club given £38m in player sales and finance income would be between £171m - £193m.

If you remove total player sales and just count the profit on player sales it will be between £156m to £178m.

So despite us spending £31m in the summer and wages, operating costs, and amortisation all having increased a club record revenue figure (previously 23/24), and total money in figure (previously 22/23) will be comfortably beaten, particularly total money in which will be at least £20m up on 22/23.

Keep up the good work on the park both domestically and in Europe and there is a lot to play for both on and off the park this season.

Yeah as laid out in my assumptions the main variable is how our next 4 European games go in the CL but that range of scenarios takes into account being beat in them all through to winning 3 of 4.

Given it looks like Bernabei will be going somewhere there will be a transfer fee for him and my other commercial figure is based on last season and the season before where we were in the CL but if we did make the playoffs or beyond then we could possibly be entitled to more.

I also think Match day income is quite conservative, given we haven’t even started the Scottish cup yet and have matched our total domestic home games from last season guaranteed.

Essentially there is cash there to be strengthening further in January.

    Some good reading man.
I'd agree, uneducatedly, I'm expecting (obviously) a record revenue and in the range you say.

I see no reason why we don't keep a hold of the first team squad as it is today, but add 2-3 players for a combined £15m in January.
Look for another CB option that compliments and improves on the three we have - be that a younger one with true potential with future sale in mind, or one that is to take over from Scales instantly and make scales a more squad player. (Not a dig at scales, simply acknowledgement of our weaker area and the desire to improve the squad. I want Scales to remain at the club).
Look at another winger and the elusive "3rd" striker.
A winger who can walk in and play from the get got, left sided to take over from Palma and provide real completion with Maeda. But perhaps can also play on the right to help there.
The 3rd striker can be a project.

Combined £15m shouldn't be a big ask for January.

At the same time, try shift some of the deadwood that's out on loan currently (pretty much the only deadwood left is out on loan). With a view that we tidy that all off come summer regardless.

Then summer time, invest the 25-30m again on 4 players and that should then take the squad to the correct level that can turn this season of one off good results against Atalanta and Leipzig in to regular competing at that level.
Take us from the starry eyed dream land of hope to get through the league phase of the UCL and actually go in to it next season confident that this season isn't just an alignment of stars.

Dim the lights, smoke across rhe pitch and with enough laser projectors we could have an entire 3D projection of the live game just like being there :fear:

We are in Europe every season, it might not be the Champions League every year but we are there advertising them which makes up for not being in the PL. I bet we also sell a * tonne of kits, more than Newcastle or Villa do certainly and more merchandise in general. I wouldn't be surprised if we had offers from Puma and/or Nike and Adidas had to up the ante.

If we win league this season then we are seeded into the playoff round of the UCL playoffs and hopefully you get a decent unseeded team with the 2nd leg at home like a bratislava etc
