Kyogo changed us going forward, but he should have passed it to Daizen who was free at the back post. But, not his best day.

Noticed that in a couple of games recently. Daizen cutting a frustrated figure but I'm sure he understands that strikers are always likely to shoot when through on goal.

In a game where so many where really poor, whilst not great thought he was one of our better players.

He regularly takes up really good positions at the far post when we attack down the right.

Not that I'm aware but went for small money to NEC in Holland so if we wanted it could have been done

I can’t remember what unders international tournament id watched maybe a year or 2 ago and Japan got quite far. Lad for them up top then signed for Barca and not heard of him since. Soon as I saw him I was hoping with our Japanese connections we coulda got him.

there’s so much Japanese talent at the minute

Was driving me mad what the players name was. rento takaoka…. U17 World Cup. All the talk during the tournament was he was signing for Barca. He never! And just seen an article that he’s joining Southampton at the end of this season. He woulda been so achievable

I’ve caught a few tournaments at that level over the years and got overly excited about a player, Ianis Hagi maybe the last one obvious example, ran riot at that level think Romania actually won it and he was the main man. May also have been watching him at that point letting the nostalgia for his Da growing up leak in. But rambling point is, senior level tournaments are notoriously bad scouting grounds and can inflate a player’s ability drastically when an average * has a couple blinders. Youth tournaments are even more so.

Saying that i can remember watching Shaqari at 16 rip it up for u21 or u18 and was desperate to sign him, and even though he was rated highly, that was achievable - so not useless either.

Two paragraphs pontificating basically not agreeing or disagreeing I’ve just realised :56:

Hahah tbf Shaqiri has gone on to have a brilliant career albeit up and down. Hagi too I’d say is a success? Romanian caps and also a few £ transfers. It’s very easy to be inflated like you said then get lost jumping from that level to seniors. So id say your two suggestions would have done well if they signed
