    What about Greg Taylor?

Nothing as of yet. Again, a similar message. You see his importance to our game the other night. I think the possibility of having two quality players in each position, I think that's what you see in the game the other night. We play Alex (Valle) in the semi-final and he does fantastically well. Tuesday night was a different game, I felt, and what we wanted from the game. So I can bring then Greg in and you see the level that he played at, how clean he was, how bright he was, how well he defended, how well he attacked. So he's clearly obviously someone I see as a big part of what we're looking to continue here and I hope over the coming months that we can do that.

Is there not fear that, I think, it'll be a couple of months before he can theoretically start speaking to other clubs? Is there hope that you can get him nailed down?

Well, hopefully, yes, because there does come a point where both sides, we have to understand what we're thinking, because if it's not going to happen, then OK, we know that. We can then plan and prepare going forward. But I really hope it doesn't get to that because I love working with Greg Taylor. He's played, what, about 186 games here. I can't tell you how influential he is off the pitch and how good he's been on the pitch for this club, the consistency and also how we play. Both our full-backs are absolutely critical for us and how we operate, and they have two totally different functions and how they work. Greg is a specialist in what he does for us and you see the flow of the team. I watched the game the other night. RB Leipzig pressing us with four players. We're getting five in our build-up. We've got different solutions to get through. He's a massive part of that. So, I really hope that we can do something. Plus, I really, really like him. He's such a good guy. He loves being here. He's a big voice in the changing room. Every single day in training, he's so good. He's focused. He's just married. He'll be a father later on in the year as well. So, we want him to really settle down and get everything ready for him. I just want to continue working with him for as long as I possibly can.

Think we may be looking at a permanent LB signing in Jan. GT might just fancy a move away somewhere else. Been here 5 years now.

Ah. Never knew. I thought he was just married and might have fancied something different.
5 years is a long time at a club for some...although he won't get anywhere better really.
I'm not going to get all sign or * off with him.

Needs to play another 49 matches to get onto the top 100 appearances list and will displace Bobo Balde in doing so.

From what I can find it’s 184, and if googles right, Rodgers wanted an about figure instead of exact and added a couple on to make it in the range of 186:56:

For the amount of years Bobo spent kicking his feet in the stands and reserves it’s funny to remember just how stalwart a servant he was in the first team.

On topic but, Greg Taylor absolutely deserves a new contract. Whether it’s a suitable one for him is another story, he’s not a player we can guarantee a game and should be striving for an upgrade, but he’s absolutely a player we could realise we don’t play as well with that upgrade than with Taylor there.

He does have downsides and weaknesses as a player, but thats somehow so much more obvious to our fans, something we are a lot more vocal about than some of the outstanding qualities he’s brought to us since cementing first place.

but that might be understandable because it’s unusual in a left back the outstanding quality is helps us best and improves us immensely in the middle of the pitch and supporting the CM’s. Not attacking or defensively outstanding, but what he brings to the midfield is outstanding. Thats not the normal quality expected in our LB

Odd one. Wonder if he wants to stay. He knows - he isn’t rated by most of the fans
It’s potentially a final contract in his peak years
He’s not gonna be of use to any team that plays traditional full backs
He’s not gonna be afforded the luxury of no competition with BR, as shown with the ruthless nature of the Scales/Trusty decision.

I think tactically if not technically, he is superb in that inverted role.

It is, the other day rumours came out saying talks stalled, everything up until then was said no talks yet.

Can’t see him being one to demand no competition and guaranteed place regardless. He’s nailed down a place for seasons without many outwith the guys he plays next to acknowledging the key role he’s played in that time.

so who knows. Anybody who comes in for him though, at a level that he’d want to play, it will be for that role. If that team is any level of competent scouting.

    Lyons terrorised him all day..

Weak and posted missing so many times..

Another petty thing enrages me is his throw ins. I've never seen a professional give so many to the opposition in my life....or no be able to throw it more than 10 yards with a run up..

Thought he shoulda been subbed today along with idah, engels and hatate about the 55 minute mark. That surface doesn't help anyone but he was really poor
