Starting tonight away to Nice, Twente 1-0 up. Hopefully starts to get a run of games now.

FORGOTTEN Celtic loan defender Gustaf Lagerbielke admits he's frustrated after failing to start a single league game for Twente Enschede so far.

The Swedish stopper was shipped out on loan earlier this season after starting just four league games for the Hoops since his £3million move from Elfsborg last year.

But he's yet to start a game in the Eredivisie for Twente since his move.

However, he came on as a sub in their last game for injured defender Mees Hilgers and could now be set for a chance to impress.

Lagerbielke said: "Of course I have been frustrated because I want to play for Twente since my loan move from Celtic.

"But I have had to accept, the team are playing well and the guys in my position have been excellent

Waiting for your chance is the hardest thing as a footballer, but that's how it works.

"When the chance comes, I have to be ready.

"So it was good to get on and play the second half against Willem II.

"It was a battle and it felt like a Scottish League match at the end because it was tough.

I'm a defender who likes to play football, but also I don't shy away from a fight.

"Sometimes you have to play dirty to get that clean sheet and we managed that.

I am enjoying it here and learning Dutch, but it seems like a mix of ten languages at once.

"It's the first time I've been in a country where I don't understand the language

From the outside, looks as if he never got a fair crack of the whip with us but I guess our management and coaches saw enough of him on training ground to make the call.
Just best to cut our losses with him-and Rocki and move on. given our 3 current top drawer center halfs, no need to waste any time with trying to get a tune out of them 2.
Just feel, if them 2 are lingering around, will maybe prevent us looking at a fourth option at center half.

I think the reality is he just isn't very good, another loan out in January to a club desperate for a centre back. If he stays where he is he gets no buyers in the summer.

Lager won plenty ground and aerial duels according to SofaScore last night, however, he completed 59/72 passes against Nice, compare that with CCV who completed 78/80 passes, Trusty with 94/97 completed passes and Scales with 21/21 completed passes against Leipzig, on top of the fact they all regularly win their ground/aerial duels, then that's what separates them from Lager and why he won't make it here in a team that dominates possession most weeks and needs to be comfortable with the ball at European level also

Apparently Malmo are desperate to buy him. There was an offer to take him there in the summer but the player rejected it then as he didn’t want to go straight back to Sweden but that may have changed given his lack of game time.

He has had a game now starting for them so hopefully he gets more at Twente, if not he should be recalled and sent somewhere else.

That was the thing everybody described as one of his attributes his passing, along with some youtube videos of two or three highlights of cross field passes from him if I remember right.

He’s a Swedish Declan Gallagher for me, poor footballer, can’t be part of a defence keeping a high line, but can be impressive defending in the box backs to the wall.

Jimmy Thelin has had a dream start in Aberdeen, who after eleven rounds are second in the Scottish league, on the same points as first-placed Celtic.
The Swedish coach has been praised and compared to King Midas, and with the Swede as coach the team had 16 straight games without a loss.
One who is happy about the coach's success is Gustaf Lagerbielke who was with Thelin at Elfsborg, before both moved to Scotland, Lagerbielke to Celtic and Thelin to Aberdeen.
    - It's great fun. We have had some contact during the time in Scotland and also before he moved there. So it's great that it's going so well. Fantastic to be undefeated for so long and to take up the fight with Celtic, it's fantastically well done, he says to Fotbollskanalen

How big of a deal is it that Aberdeen can threaten Celtic so far?
    - It's incredibly big. Celtic and Rangers have won every title since the 80s. So that it's someone else who's there, who's there at least for a little while, that's big. Then you are nine points ahead of Rangers as well, that's really cool.
Now Lagerbielke has moved to Twente, who are fifth in the Dutch league. From there, he follows Elfsborg's progress in the Europa League, where, among other things, they defeated Roma and drew against Braga.

Great fun. Unfortunately, we have had matches in Europe at the same time so I have not been able to watch their matches. But I'm proud when I say: look at my Swedish team, how they're doing in Europe. Some of the players think it's cool that a Swedish team can win at home against Roma. So I am very proud, he says

Are you surprised that it has gone so well?
    - No, not surprised, but you didn't expect to win games in Europe. Hiljemark has made the team difficult to face. Then there is a good squad. I thought Elfsborg would do better than expected, but maybe not this well.
