Thought he was immense, won everything in the air, showed great composure, read the game very well.

He's getting better with each game, i would have him starting ahead of Scales, i know it's tough on him (Scales) as he's been brilliant, but i think tonight that was our strongest back line that started the game.

I've gotta admit to going too early on him....I should know better..

    He looks immense now
    So quick
    Strong
    His anticipation
The way he's firing his passing between the lines or out wide

Love Scales but that pace/recovery pace is vital for the way we play and likely why Trusty will start more with Carter-Vickers when both fit. It does look some fit those two..

First couple games, jury was well and truly still out.

But he's really grown in to the side.
More so since CCV has came back and they seem to work well together.

Naturally looks great on the left but has no issues doing his job on the right side of the central pairing.

Him and CCV is the partnership going forward.

Big fan of Scalesy but Trusty starting to look levels above now. Obviously his pace is key but is so crisp with his forward passing most of the time aswell. Beginning to look the real deal.

Definitely judged him too soon, big man is going from strength to strength now. Glad he proved us wrong, once again not giving a player long enough to settle in.

To be fair mate, at least you weren't saying * like he'll be our most expensive flop, like someone else did with another player :fear:

Decent tonight. Loved how BR said he played him because he is rapid. Shows we have 3 for different circumstances.

I'm actually now wondering if the well-established idea of sticking with a centre half partnership as much as possible applies to us the now.

Could be worth rotating between the 3 pretty regular to keep them all sharp, especially with CCV's recent injuries. Would be massively beneficial to have them all comfortable and familiar with each other's games going forward.

Think this is how it will go the more I think about it.

Ideally we get another right sided centre half in and then rotate regularly so they're all getting a decent amount of game time and ready to go for an extended period when injuries occur.

Aye that would be perfect. Don't thinknit will be big rocky but I'd be content with what we have till the summer I think. Focus on the wings in January.

If we could ship Lagerbielke and Nawrocki and bring in a couple of centre halves. Maybe younger up and coming types to rotate....we'd be in a good position. Could even give Rodgers the option of going back to that 3 at the back and 2 up top that he was wanting to try in his first stint before Dembele left..

When you watched his highlights from Birmingham, that was one thing I thought he looked really good at. Playing on the wrong side is harder than some seem to think in my opinion. Especially in a team that dominate the ball as much as we do. There’s a lot of pressure in the centre halfs to move it quickly. That becomes far easier if you are playing on the correct side.

Aye you kinda just expect that right footed centre halves need to do that all the time on the left. Can't think of a left footed right centre half, ever for a sustained period?

Also shows that his bad stint under a dreadful Sheffield United was more a collective issue than him being a terrible player/defender..

You don't bounce back as quickly as he's done from that, and Dortmund and perform away at a side like Atalanta if you're just flaky..

You can see why we've been keen to bring him in. Imposing (now). Very quick. Quite good on the ball. Left sided. Delighted to be eating a bit of humble pie after slagging him early doors..

I didn’t really make any comment on him early doors to be fair. I actually defended Starfelt early on as well. I did make a comment about having reservations about him playing on the right side as I do feel it’s quite awkward, more so in games when we dominate the ball. Atalanta was a bit different as we sat a lot deeper to protect the defence and we went longer more often from Schmeichel. He was superb defensively that night however. Can see he looks far more comfortable on the left though, which is understandable.

Also, good on the ball and seems to have that recovery in his play.
