Looked like he was playing with an eye patch and weights round his ankles tonight

Honestly mate, this isnt just reactionary to one match.

It was the same in Dortmund, he was the same at Ross County, same against Aberdeen and was the very same tonight.

Gutless, spineless attemps at making tackles/blocks, just jogs into areas, cant track a man for love nor money.

Even if that's not his game, he certainly hasnt even justified himself in possession or offensively.

He honestly best get his * finger out...

How? It was there for all to see! I love McGregor but he was well off it tonight for most part.

    Nah I agree..

I've seen him bottle and back out of tackles/50/50's now and let people run off him and hide..

He's young and started off well but he really does need to come back strong. Looks far too wishy washy when it's going off around him..

Needs to start getting stuck in and have a bit of aggression and tempo in his game..

To be fair he was bodying players in his first few games. Remember the diets, players bouncing off him and looking really mobile as a box to box midfielder..

I know this is levels up but he just doesn't look the same at all. Even up at Dingwall he was miles off it and very cumbersome. His passing has been dreadful in some of our recent games bar a couple Saturday..

Actually looking forward to (hopefully) seeing the boy getting a reprieve at the weekend, been a whirlwind start for him and his confidence has taken a bit of a battering.

Take a spell, work hard in training and come back in flying again.

Him and Hatate offer the square root of * all defensively - there in black and white on all the highlights of opposition goals.

Wee calmac the only one actually getting into defensive positions is stifling him something rotten.

Needs dropped for the weekend imo.

Still maintain he has a lot of talent and will be a great player but he's looked short on confidence recent games.

Thought it was madness starting him against Aberdeen, albeit he did have a good first half, and he was poor tonight.

Said it a few times now but price tag or not, he needs to earn his starting place with us. No reason Bernardo doesn't start at the weekend.

He has a lot of talent and I have zero worries about him coming good, but we need to manage him a bit better than we have done, it doesn't do a young player any good continually playing him through a sticky patch.

Aye I agree. At the moment there's no need for him to start every game.

He's not deserving of it, at the absolute minimum.

Scouting team or whoever insisted on signing him need * lynched if we have spunked £11 million on a player who is not up to standard. People saying looked out of his depth. Not writing him off but worrying signs at this point.

I thought he was absolutely fine tonight as he was at the weekend granted the midfield 3 at points in the first half treated the ball like a bomb but he wasn't *. He's just turned 21 moved for a club record fee and is being asked to be the like for like replacement for one of our star players

He finished the game good but he was poor for the most part. He plays in a more defensive position so he’s going to have more involvement in that area than Engles and Hatate naturally. All 3 weren’t great but the back 4 and wingers put a serious shift in. And idah first half.

Most concerning thing for me is shiteing out of tackles. Completely unacceptable, don’t care what age he is. Needs dropped.

It's also possible he's carrying something. Not big enough to keep him out, but a niggle. Enough to stop him flying into 50/50s or accelerating as quickly.

I wrote AJ off last year for that reason and regret it now.

It's a possibility to bear in mind.

I don't think there is a major problem with Engels, as he started brilliantly for us, and he could have had two goals against Aberdeen.
He is only just turned 21, and he has obvious quality and potential. If there is something niggling him, we need to get to the bottom of it, and soon.

Hopefully the case. He doesn't look happy on the pitch at all.
