I think his loan spell ends at the end of the year?

Alexandro Bernabei didn’t have the easiest time in Scotland after signing for Celtic but looks to have found a footballing home at Internacional.

The left-back has made just 16 starts for the Bhoys, only four of which came in the wake of Brendan Rodgers’ appointment last summer

His start after making a loan move to Brazil was difficult, too. The 24-year-old was initially a bit part player but he has now found regular football and a hot streak of form that is exciting his club’s supporters.

Bernabei scored his second goal for Internacional in a big derby match at the weekend. This came at the end of a 14-game run during which he’s excelled, never dipping below a match rating of 7.0, according to stat-trackers Fotmob.

Now, Inter are making serious noises about keeping him for longer, with his loan deal due to expire at the end of 2024.

The Brazilian club have a purchase option to retain his services and have already opened discussions with his agent about signing him beyond his current deal.

However, it seems they still want to negotiate final terms with Celtic.

Internacional’s president Alessandro Barcellos told Radio Gaucha: “Bernabei is on loan with the club until the end of the year. We still need to work with the club that owns his rights to buy him or extend the loan, whatever the possible strategy.

We have already started talks with the player’s agent, who has expressed an interest in staying, which is important in the process. We hope to have a favourable outcome, but this will only happen towards the end of the year.

“Our idea is to keep Bernabei, as he increases in value with each game that passes. He is a player who has earned his space, conquered it, and maintained it, and today he is a very important performer for our team.”

With Greg Taylor established in the position and Alex Valle showing promising signs following his loan move from Barcelona, Celtic were well-stocked at left-back for the remainder of the season.

A return to Scotland for the Argentinian looks unlikely, especially since he has admitted he struggled to adapt to life at the Bhoys.

It’s clear that Bernabei is worth something to Inter. If the player is happy and settled in Brazil, then extending his stay will be the best option for all parties.

But Celtic shouldn’t be taken advantage of. They should push for the full terms of any clause included in his loan, given that Bernabei is doing what was expected of him

Honestly I'd be happy to give them the player as long as he forgoes the wages due on rest of his contract.

Talks about his value increasing with every game he plays and then says we will try for another loan.

    Not the brightest.

Get the useless wee * sold to anyone stupid enough to pay money for him

Hopefully we can get him sold in January rather than just another loan. The fact he is playing and doing well should hopefully be enough to get a deal done. Will be interesting to see if we can recoup all of the 3.75m we wasted when we signed him.

Good to see the boy finding his feet elsewhere. Has a lot of talent but got off to a bad start over here and never recovered. Must have been a mammoth challenge uprooting to a totally different culture, at his age, not speaking the language etc.

The way some * idiots speak about players is a disgrace btw. Half wit imbeciles who Bernabei would make a * out of on a football pitch calling him all sorts cos he didn't manage to make the grade here. * hilarious.

I usually agree and don’t like the more abuse sort of stuff that’s thrown his way because he didn’t make the grade.

But I’ll criticise Berny for his professionalism, caught drunk driving, was late to meetings and training etc.

Even then aye critical of him but I wonder if we gave a young guy moving across the world the support we should to adapt, Ange being the man who brought him in and how he stresses the human side to players fans forget I think he definitely would though - so the boy could just be a *. Sounds like he’s doing excellent on loan though, result for us.

Imagine we were signing him from them, he's the highest rated player in the Brazilian League on Fotmob and Whoscored and 6th on Sofascore.

With how a lot of scouting is done now with stats, a 24 year old running a mock, tacking, dribbling, creating chances, scoring etc surely someone will pay a few quid for him you'd think. A French or Turkish team or even Porto or someone.

Just shows how people struggle with the mental side of playing for Celtic.

I've actually no doubt Bernabei is a talented player. But trying to actually do it week-in, week-out on a consistent basis whilst having to win every week - it's not for every player.

It looks like he we could get a few bob off this Inter team themselves, check the tweets about him.

That bottom one really says imagine Bernabei signed up by the club for years.

Seems not only to be playing well but a big character in their team.

That bottom one I think says Comparable with peak Roberto Carlos lol

I noticed as well a lot of the tweets about him were slagging the manager Coudet who they sacked in July, mind they signed him and then never gave him a game, he actually never played a single game for that manager despite being there for 3 months and only started playing under the new manager Machado where he's arguably been the best player in the League. Loads of tweets slaughtering that Coudet saying how was he seeing Bernabei in training and not giving him a game. People saying he must be the worst manager in the country, blind etc

Can't believe how well he's doing over there.

He's finished here but no reason we can't make a decent profit off him, could easily get £5 million+ imo

Yeah he’s absolutely nowhere near as good as those stats and posts suggest which tells you how firstly stats are like miniskirts but more importantly Celtic fans aren’t the only ones that think players are GOATS after 3 good games or garbage after same amount of time.

    Guy is a donut.

He joined them before their season started and did not get a single minute in the first 14 League games, that manager got sacked and then the new manager started him in his 2nd League game and he's started every game since then 15 in a row.

The 15 he's played they've only lost 1 game. They lost 5 of the first 14 he never played in, were 11th when he made his debut and are now up to 6th and the in form team in the League picking up 24 points out of the last 30 with him having 2 goals and 3 assists in those 10.
