I think McCowan deserves a starting place before Engels.

Did you not see the pass for Kyogo that set up the first goal?

Needs to impose himself more in the games instead of constantly trying the "Hollywood" stuff.

That's what Turnbull used to do...

So unlucky with the one off the top of the bar in the first..

However, I did notice he did a fair bit of moaning after he played the wrong pass.. which is a wee concern.

First half I thought he was really good. Second half like everyone, fell away.

Yip, it'd be easy to look at him and think he is a bit of a tadger. Not saying he is mind you, but I think he could be....

His pass to Kyogo second half was unbelievable but would be fair to expect a bit more from him overall I think.

    He's still young.

I think the first couple games have obviously set expectations high but need to remember he's a 21 year old midfielder with less than 80 first team games under his belt still.

And on the flip side, he's a 21 year old £12m midfielder who has played first team games in the Bundesliga, and is a current Belgian international.

    His age has no bearing.

He’s an outstanding talent with a huge ceiling, he’s just in the door and he’s young.

No issues on him for me at all, wouldn’t even see it as him being ‘dropped’ if he were to come out for someone else - it’s all part of his development.

His fee will end up being a steal.

Was poor today. Seems to struggle to get involved in the game. Sure others are right and he'll improve but not that impressed so far.

    It absolutely does.

12m doesn't buy the finished article for us nowadays, never mind with someone who's played that amount of games and is learning his role. He's not going to be the finished article for some time.

He's had a good start here and tbh I expected the inconsistency. Price tag shouldn't have a bearing just as you're saying age shouldn't. Which I completely disagree with.

He's showing moments of real brilliance mixed in with moments of immaturity and lack of consistency. What young player doesn't do that?

    He's 21 mate, no 17 or 18.

I repeat, 50+ games in the Bundesliga, and a current Belgian international.

This isn't a Lennon Miller we're talking about here. Price tag absolutely comes into it in terms of his age has no bearing of giving him "breathing space".

He is the club record signing, and he needs to be far more consistent and stamp his authority on games.

I have absolutely no doubt he WILL, but it needs to come. Soon.

    Fair enough.

I disagree personally and this was my concern with the price tag.

The club record signing he may be but £11m nowadays is money we could have been spending 10 year ago and still be getting no guarantees.

He's just turned 21, my point is that he is going to have spells of inconsistency. Honestly don't see what's so outlandish about that. Only player at that age I've not seen be inconsistent is Messi, christ.

and he was excellent in 4 of those games.

He shouldn't start the next league game but he's an excellent player, we jump on players far too early.

I think you're right in that we need to have some patience in having Rodgers develop him, Bernardo and Idah. Petrov joined us at a similar age, and the player that left us was far from the player he was in his first season here.

Who's mentioned anything about being "outlandish"?

He's been inconsistent. It's not good enough for a player of his standard coming into the team. Quite simple. The price tag isn't HIS issue really, that's what his club asked for and that's what we paid, but if he didn't realise the responsibilty thst comes with then maybe he should have been a bit better advised before signing. But I assume he knew what he was coming into.

Mentioning Messi is a complete moot point, considering he's the greatest player to ever play.

Is it so "outlandish" to expect slightly better from your record signing coming from playing regularly against the likes of Bayern Munich, Dortmund et al to now coming up against the likes of St Johnstone, and Aberdeen? Absolutely not.

Will he get better? Yes. I think so.

Think it'll take a while to see the best of him. Similar to Bernardo and O'Riley who both took a bit of bedding in when they first came in.
