I was in my back garden this morning when a Housemartin flew over me. It's a wee bit late in the year for Housemartins

That one just before it hits the water....class.

 

Nearly hit a golden eagle yesterday! Came round a corner and was sitting on the road . Braked and managed to avoid it , it flew off . Think it was eating. First time ever seeing one , was huge as well when it spread its wings .

A cool Green Woodpecker has been hanging around my local patch for the last few days, they really are handsome birds with a loud yelping call. Also yesterday the local male Peregrine showed very well as did a female Kestrel this morning.

 

Good to see a post in this great thread good friend. It's been quiet in here for over a week now

 

I was delighted to get a calling winter plumage Brambling on my local patch this morning. This the northern version of Chaffinch is a classic winter visitor arriving in the Autumn in pretty good scattered numbers all over these isles. Such handsome birds and my first this year.

Once they settle they love Wooded areas with Beech Trees, they love beech mast.

 

Always good to see one of the 2 local pairs of Ravens on my local patch who have brought up countless young in the passing years.

Also seen on my local patch with Ruby Roo of course this morning were the odd Brambling passing through with dozens on chaffinchs. The local male Kestrel showed well as did a male Stonechat.

I took advantage of the fair weather during the week and spent a couple of mornings at loch Colgagh, the first thing i saw on both mornings was this pair of otters, i don't know if it's two adults or an * and young, the bigger of the two made a dive beside the reed beds and came up with a catch and both disappeared behind the reeds with their meal, i was lucky again yesterday morning when i saw them fishing again, this time they were a lot closer to where i was perched, i've still to sort those pics out and will post them when they're ready.
